...but my well kept boxed edition bought almost twenty years ago is missing at the moment and three expeditions in the attic to look for it yield no results .... so is there any legal way to acquire it drm-free without buying the ee crap again?
Anyway, in case there's no other way to get it (whitch i suspect since I surfed the internet for quite some time without finding anything but hey ... no harm in asking right?) does the version that comes in bundle with the ee crap include any additional mod ?

Beamdog has seen to it that the originals are not available anywhere else but bundled with their "copies". You could always check eBay for a 4-in-1 box set (yours is obviously AWOL).

The classic versions that come with the enhanced editions are the same versions that used to be available on GOG for some time; fully patched with expansions installed (but not Siege of Dragonspear, which is sold separately and only works with the EE), but without any additional mods.

Note that the classic editions are not automatically added to your GOG account; instead, you need to go to the corresponding game's library page, go to More -> Serial Keys, and use the link there to claim the classic edition. This also works for Icewind Dale, but not Planescape: Torment (which is handled differently for some reason).

If you have already bought EE you can redeem the classic versions. Check under More -> Serial Keys.
Then you can play the superior BGT version of the BG games.
@Hickory
Thanks for the suggestion, I will also check ebay seeing also that they are not discounted anymore here on gog.
@dtgreene
Great clarification, i had assumed the classic editions would just pop up in my library together with the ee, the funny part is ... I still have the boxed version of Tales of the Sword Coast... too bad i'm missing the main game :)
@PetrusOctavianus
Yeah, the problem is ... I bought them on steam (at that time i was not aware of the existance of GOG) and not only that, i'm so easily gullible that not satisfied with the crap i acquired with Baldu'rs Gate I I also bought Baldur's Gate II and Icewind Dale crap edition, I feel ashamed even today I would have felt less guilty buying them here, at least i would have supported GOG.

Ok boys thanks for the feedback, off to a last expedition in the attic tomorrow morning.:)

Not everyone here is a boy. (Did you forget to read my forum title?)

Edit: For those who downrated this post, do you have a good explanation why?

Ops, I apologize dtgreene I meant no disrespect as you can see by may post count i'm not very used to these forums and i did not paid attention to your forum title ( which is quite scary now that i noticed ) I guess a generic "thanks" would have fitted the case better:)
Amazon.com still has the boxed set:
https://www.amazon.com/Baldurs-Gate-Box-Set-Compilation-Pc/dp/B000FGA1US/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509142487&sr=8-1&keywords=baldur%27s+gate

And if you look further down that page, you'll see links to boxed versions of Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment too.

I notice your profile shows you're in Italy, so not sure if those links will be valid for you over on the other side of the pond.

Try and contact GoG and ask them for a discount in exchange for the original BG copies. I remember another user trying that.
They are available on Amazon and Ebay for sure. Very reasonable prices too. Cheaper than the EE versions digitally, in fact.

Although a bit of a long shot, you could wait/hope that these games will become available through GOG Connect, which would allow you to add the EE versions to your GOG library on the basis of having the EE versions in your Steam library. That might (or might not) get you the Classic Edition keys as a side effect. I'm not aware of whether GOG has plans to ever offer these particular games through GOG Connect, so this option is the cheapest, but requires waiting an indefinite period (assuming it ever succeeds).

Are you still looking for Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga?
