Hello,

So I have installed and played BG 1+2 according to that GoG guide to "play both games as one, seamless adventure"

And since I come to an end with BG1 now I was wondering, how and when BG2 will begin? Will it automatically turn into BG2 once the main story line in BG1 is finished? Or will I rather just start a BG2 game from the menu and my characters will be transferred then?

If you have come to the end of BG1 now, you should know the answer pretty soon ;)

If you're playing with BGT, you will be taken into BG2 in the game itself. You go on a little travel, there is a cutscene, and then BG2 starts. You can also start a 'normal' game in BG2 of course, but the idea is to play both games effectively as one, so you can just continue your usual saves/quicksaves.

Thanks! Also for your answer in my other thread.

As for BGT, mh, I can't link to that GOG page about that "seamless mod" but I did follow the instruction there, including "Download BGT-WeiDU and extract it in your Baldur's Gate II directory."

So I guess that is BGT, right?

This is BGT: http://www.spellholdstudios.net/ie/bgt

This is the guide I used, and it sounds like the one you refer to as well: http://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/baldurs_gate_2_essential_mods

I hadn't used BGT until now, but some small niggles aside, it has worked well, and there is indeed a pretty seemless transition into BG2.

Okay, thanks and yeah, that seems to be the one I have installed.

After the final battle of BG1 (which is when a normal BG1 game would end), you'll remain in control of your character - you should get a message telling you to return and talk to someone (if not, ask and I'll add the spoiler) - once you talk to that someone, you'll get auto-transported into BG2 (sometimes this can take a while (black screen for a few minutes as there's a lot of info to move over - wish they'd put up a 'don't panic' graphic or something)).
