I'm thinking of playing a sorcerer and I'm wondering how many spells the sorcerer is supposed to get per level, especially initially at character creation. I'm wondering because I was looking at a sorcerer guide and unless I was misunderstanding the guide made it seem as if the sorcerer has more spell picks (5) than I got when I made a sorcerer. I'm assumig I just misunderstood the guide and that my game doesn't have some weird bug, but I thought I would check.

You don't get to pick all spells as soon as you reach a new casting level. The sorcerer gets additional spells to choose as he levels up. At level 36 he will will know 5 spells of each level.

No weird bug or anything. The manual doesn't provide a list for how many times you can cast and how many spells you can learn.

Also note that unlike wizards, sorcerers have a separate "spells known per level" and "spells castable per day per level." You may only know 3 spells of a certain level, but you can cast 5 spells (of any combination) of that level per day. This is what the game means when it says that they know fewer spells than a wizard, but can cast more often.

In case it's not clear, the format for the chart Tallima linked is the number castable spells per day, followed by a slash, and then the total spells known.
