ShadowWalker56: it seems to me that the BG series is losing what made it a classic CRPG under the helm of Beamdog. Why do I say that? I've tried hard to like the new content BD has put in including the new expansion but it just seems to detract more than to add to the BG series. Most of the new content just doesn't feel right, To me the new expansion is one big mess. It's buggy and to me it just left a lot to be desired. Then there's thing with BD feeling they must represent every "community" on the planet. It's like the BG series has become an experiment in political correctness. I realize many will not agree but these are my personal observations.

Totenglocke: Because the writing isn't even close to the quality of the originals and they made it entirely linear. I watched a Let's Play video of the DLC and it was just painful to hear the middle school level writing.

Lebesgue: I have only played BG1:EE and the new content was painful... Coupled with the fact that you could not skip, made it really infuriating.

Not planning to play SoD.

Tuthrick: I played through BG:EE up to chapter 5 and gave up on it. They messed up many aspects of the game that I enjoy: character animations (I find BG2 ugly), cutscenes, UI, balance (Dorn is so overpowered it's not even funny). The new storylines were sticking out too much. I was really trying to like it, but it's not worth the effort and money in my opinion.

Now they failed even more with the new expansion, what I don't particularly like is their attitude: the infamous "too bad", asking for positive reviews and pushing forward ideological stuff. All that wouldn't be as bad, if the quality of the expansion would defend itself, but it doesn't, unfortunately.

So, thank you Beamdog, but no. I'd rather play the original and enjoy it as much as I do so far. Don't try to fix what's not broken. Sadly, soon the originals and EEs will be bundled together on GoG.

ZellSF: Uh. You could skip most of the new content in the Enhanced Edition. Only new content is NPCs. If they don't join you, there's no new content beyond the encounters where you meet two of them (the rest you have to initiate the conversation).

Those are two combat encounters. One in Beregost and one in a encounter on the way to Nashkel mines (which you can just exit out of if you know it's there).

Lebesgue: Sure, that's already a little bit irritating. Then you add to it their new cutscenes which are terrible (and why the hell they decided to substitute the original with that crap).

There were other things that annoyed me though I forgot most of them since it has been a long while since I played it.

jsidhu762: The new content looks like it was written by a 13 year old kid. The voice acting is terrible too. Close your eyes and listen to any of the original voice acting. You imagine someone who's a determined druid, an innocent natured fighter, or a free spirited kid who's antics will one day get her into trouble.

Now...close your eyes and listen to Neera's voice acting. I really don't know how anyone else can *not* picture a girl standing in a studio reading from a script.
