Moved this topic from General Discussion to Baldur's Gate series, but forgot to change it to a question. >_<:

Hey guys!

Another little problem with Baldur's Gate I'm having. It works completely fine, but the loading and saving times are much longer than normal, and it's starting to annoy me. I haven't played it in a while, however, and I suspect that might be some sort of explanation.

But is there any other reason as to why it's taking so long to load and save? And how do I fix the problem? Same problem is with Baldur's Gate 2 as well. I don't know about Icewind Dale though. It also takes long to quit out of the loaded game as well.

Is there any way to fix this problem? I have no mods for Baldur's Gate 1 (not counting the console), and 1 I think for Baldur's Gate 2.

Please help!

Edit: Idk how this got put in the General Discussion area.. I was sure I was in the Baldur's Gate series area when I clicked on "Add topic"..

Update: Icewind Dale loading times are normal, but I assume that's because I have a disc for it.

This happened to me once in BG II (disc version). It only affected one game, when I started other group it worked normally, but it stayed there even when I tried using different and older saves.
I never learnt what was the cause of it so I am not much help here, but I suspected some mod, because I was tinkering with them before. But I tried to remove some mods (not all though) and it didn't help.

Does it affect any game you create or just one? If it is only one, then it is likely slightly corrupted save and you won't be able to fix it.
I had to bite the bullet and stick with it but hopefully someone will know some solution.
I was only trying to load and save one game, but I assume it was for all saves as well. I also ran a patch for BG1 just then to see if that would work, but I think I just stuffed it up totally now, It's asking me to insert Disc 6 into the CD drive, even though it never required a disc. The game is from GOG as well.

My only guess is to reinstall it now, but I need to find where the original thing is from GOG that I downloaded to do so.

Just a shot in the dark, but is the GOG version of BG1 you're installing using the newer 2.0 GOG installer?
Idk, I think so.

Just find your GOG installer app and check what version it is. The reason I ask is because while most of the 2.0 installers work fine, a few had to be fixed and re-uploaded by GOG shortly after they were updated. Baldur's Gate II version 2.0 installer had a slight issue with the bin files but was fixed shortly after the release of the updated installer for it today. (see linked thread) Though I could be wrong and your problem could be something else.
