Hi, all. I've never played the Baldur's Gate series before (except for the tutorial of EE, just so I could make sure it ran well on my laptop), but I keep wanting to sink in some time somewhere down the line, moreso recently because of the whole SoD thing makes me want to play. I have the original here on GOG, and the Enhanced Edition on Steam (might also get the EEs here on sale), and noticed that there's new characters for EE, among other things.

So, my question: Does anybody know if there may be a way to add those newer characters into the old game? I've spent time looking everywhere, but couldn't find anything about this. I keep hearing about stuff like Tutu and the NPC project, but as great as those sound, I don't think they answered my question.

And if it's not possible to add them, then I'm fine with playing EE, probably with some mods. After all, I bought BG here mainly for modding purposes, since I heard EE doesn't play well with some mods, especially since 2.0 (I downgraded back to 1.3 on Steam because I hated the new character sprites)

It's not possible, because the original game does not have what is needed: kits, proficiencies, etc. It would be theoretically possible to add them to a TuTu or BGT game, with any shortcomings, as a mod, but that would be getting into copyright territory, if they were to be made public.

Hi, thanks for the answer. I had a feeling this was the case, especially in regards to how differently EE works. Ah, well. As I said, the main reason I ended up getting EE was for the bonus content, so I have no issue playing that for the new stuff and the story. I can always use the original version as a comparison, and for the majority of mods that won't function on EE.
