I seem to remember spending quite some time panicking under that spell when playing a bit of BGT before I decided to try the vanilla versions first. I noticed the brief duration that Horror had on my party with the following setup: BG1 widescreen 800x600 + GUI mod, baldurdash fix, unfinished business and the dialogue pause component from BG1 tweak pack. Today I reinstalled BG1 with another fixpack from plainab and Unfinished Business and went to Tarnesh. It took him three magic missiles to kill Imoen and me, and his Horror spell ended a split second before that. So I tried it with no modifications to the game at all - the result's the same. If anyone ever had this problem, any help would be appreciated. I couldn't find anything similar on the net, apart from too high a frame rate, which in my case remains untouched.

In that first configuration I mentioned I also had some weird bugs like enemies vanishing into thin air (namely Hakt in bandits' camp - I could still hear him growling, and after resting outside and reentering the tent he reappeared). Couldn't initiate dialogue with several NPCs without reloading. Some leather armors found a way in my party's inventories which I don't remember picking up... Nothing game breaking, but if the reason for these things is known, I'd gladly hear it.

As for the Horror spell, my bloody perfectionism would prevent me from playing thus, barely suffering from this debuff and who knows what else. So, if the problem is limited to my machine, I guess I'll just stick to BGT, tutu or some such.

Vanilla BG1 and TuTu/BGT BG1 are completely different entities. They run in different engines. You also have to understand that Horror is a panic spell that is affected by luck/morale/saving throws/bard song etc., and so has different effects on different victims, at different levels, and at different times. It's not a one-size-fits-all spell. But what you are describing sounds like a discrepancy between the BG1 engine and the BG2 engine mostly.
Thanks. I guess I'll have to cut down on paranoia and stick with the game for once.
