Ok so first off i have the tutu mod just so you know.

Anyway i want to be a magic user i love magic but i hear this game is hard as balls if you don't know what you are doing as a spellcaster.

So is there a good like starter spell user class that way i can use magic but not die over and over?

PS: could i just play on easy and not have that much trouble?

Thanks for the help.
A good starting magic class is Conjurer. You get 1 extra spell per level, but you will not be able to learn Divination spells. However, the only useful spell in that school, in BG1, is Identify. You can identify items at temples, so it's the perfect trade-off. As a first-time player, make good use of summons to aid you, and never use the last charge of a wand, because you can recharge them by selling them and then buying them back, if you have the money.

No school will make you less likely to die. The way to prevent that is to have companions to help you. Pick them up as you go along, but be sure to choose companions who compliment your alignment. If you are evil, pick evil (or neutral) companions, and vice versa if you are good.

Playing on easy just means you're cheating yourself out of the full experience. It makes HP max at level up, characters cannot die permanently, all spells are learned at 100% rate, monsters only do half damage. It's basically like having a cheat installed.

I see no problem in playing at the easiest difficulty, especially since normal difficulty means monsters do 75% damage in BG2.

The most fun magic user is sorcerer. You don't have to know which spell you'll cast the next day how often one day before.

Don't take a normal wizard, they get so few spells per day it's painful, either a sorcerer or a specialist school.

Make sure your character has at least 16 con and 18 dex so he doesn't die too fast.

Thanks i think i will go with Sorcerer but i have a few questions first.

1. It says the main stat for a sorcerer is INT this makes no sense to me for all the D&D games i have ever played it was CHA that picked how many spells you got at level up/ how easy it is to hit with said spell and stuff like that so if you don't mind can you tell me if it still holds true in this game or is this just a error in the tutu mod for BG1?

2.I love damage dealing spells (Fire, ice, acid) but i can't seem to be able to get info on the spells when i try to pick them so i can see how much damage they do is there a way to get info on spells in game?

I don't think i want to start my sorcerer till i know the following stuff :)

PS: I think i will play on easy for my first time then maybe if it's to easy up the difficulty.

1. Dis be 2.0 and yes his stats were Int/Cha in 2.0 Mate

2. In the character creation process when you click on a spell, its not for keeps. Thats when it gives you the info. Simply click on it again to get rid of it. Best First LEvel Spells For Sorcerer: Magic Missile, Sleep.
No stat affects sorcerer spellcasting, so feel free to dump the mental stats as much as you want, you can simply max str, dex, con and cha and dump the other stats.
