How long in real time does it take the game to advance one hour? How long for one day?
The reason I ask is one of my characters (Keldorn) is taking a day off to be with his family and I am waiting for him to be available before I start another quest string.
i hate to mess up my game plan.
I think you call that OCD, right?

Baldur's Gate uses six seconds of real time to represent one in-game minute -- that six seconds equals one combat round. So, one in-game hour equals 360 (6*60) seconds, or 6 minutes real time. One in-game day equals 2.4 real time hours, assuming no resting or altering of timers.

If you're just going to wait around for a day - go find an inn and rest for 8 hours, travel to somewhere that's a few hours away and back again. Advancing time in game (unless just an hour or two) is quickest done by doing an activity that passes time.
