Does Baldur's Gate 2 Enhanced Edition have any System Compatibility or Performance issues on modern PC's? (basically on Windows 10 64bit).

How difficult is it to skip/ignore the Enhanced Edition content added in by Beamdog? Is it heavily integrated into the classic BG2 storyline, or just side missions which are easy to skip?

I have the original game on CD-ROM and got the urge to play it again, however purchasing BG2:EE seems to be the only option, as the CD-version didn't even launch on Windows 10. I took a look at some consumer made mods I had used earlier but getting them all seems impossible as mod distribution site gibberlings3 has been down for a while already.

Does the Baldur's Gate Complete which is now bundled with BG2:EE, have any improvements from BG2:EE (UI, Performance, Compatibility?

Since it was Beamdog who saw to the complete removal of the originals, it is all the more reason not to purchase a product from such a scummy company.

PM me and I will give you a code for the original.
You can't really bypass the enhancements. Its mostly stuff like widescreen support for the user interface. There are four new companions they added that come with unique quests and some new zones only accessible with those quests. The companions are easy enough to ignore. I found the wildmage ,Neera, a lot of fun to have around. There is a monk, blackguard, and vampire thief too.

I ran it on a Windows 7 64 bit PC with no technical issues.

Some of the modders moved their mods to the EE games. You'll have to check the sites to see they are the ones you want. I don't know what happened to gibberling3 but there are others.

I was going to tell you about Spellhold Studios but they are down too.

BGEE got a widescreen UI, all of the class kits from BG2, and three new companions. There are no other noticeable improvements.
As far as BG2EE's character content, it can be skipped completely by modding. There is one out there that makes them "passive" as in they don't initiate the conversation when you walk up, or you can nuke them completely. Unlike the first game this is the only thing worth mentioning. The rest is what you're using the EE for.

If you don't want it without a doubt though and don't want to give BD money (trust me, this is perfectly understandable and I support that decision), original BG2's definitely still there and recommended. Go play that instead.

You forgot about the complete mess they made of the character sprites, and the horrible writing for the new companions. The voice acting as well. Neera sounds like a Californian bimbo who is about to take her 500th selfie of the day.
I can't believe there is still hate here on this forum, from certain member. Move on guys!

You might want to try asking on the official forum as it's more active or maybe Steam. On my part, I played a few time, never got any major bug. The EE is qui fine for what it is, a simple way to enjoy a great game on modern machine

Yeah, just forget all about the scumbag moves that Beamdog pulled along the way, shall we? Not a chance.

Yeah lets just blindly accept it when some of the best rpgs are removed from the stores, because someone wants to make money off other people's work.

The same company is currently working on BG3, by the way. So BG2, which had a perfect ending, will now get completely messed up too.

sorry for offtopic, but is this confirmed?

They have said all along that BG3 was their number 1 goal. Everything they did before that was in order to finance BG3.

They will fail if they go ahead with it. Baldur's Gate the saga is finished as far as storyline goes, not to mention that WotC are absolutely obsessed with "canon". If it ain't "canon" it's not allowed. Of course, the irony there is that they, or crappy writers on their behalf, can actually (re)write the damned "canon". Eugh! I dread to think of the sickly twisted crap that would come out under 5e. Battle of the level bazillion gods anybody? Not me. All-powerful protagonists (a-la-Superman) are ultra-boring. The opposition would be contrived bullshit because it can't be a walkover.

"Extra, Extra, read all about! CHARNAME tangles with Cyric the Mad! Rumors say Ao might get involved!"

Edit: And now I'm imagining trying to manage a party with Lathander, Helm, Talos, and maybe Tempus or Bane or something, while you collectively hunt down Cyric before he snatches more portfolios. Hidden potential party members Azmodeus, Bahamut, or Tiamat are available at the end of a long quest line.

BG3 would probably have a new protagonist. They kind of closed the story off with that Murder in Baldur's Gate module.

Still a BG3 will use 5ed. Which means 200 years after BG2, otherwise it would be dumb as hell as far as plot-holes go.

And this is precisely why there should not be a "Baldur's Gate 3". The story is closed. Finished. Put to bed. Why the hell can't they do what everybody and their dog has been telling them to do: create something new of their own instead of leeching and cash-grabbing from popular products? [Rhetorical]
