I know next to nothing about Greyhawk, so it will be interesting to learn some of the lore if I eventually play Temple of Elemental Evil (I bought it second-hand on disc before it was on GOG but have never got round to playing it).

The AD&D 2e core books were pretty much setting-neutral and didn't name any specific gods. I don't know about earlier editions, though I recall 3e did, as you say, list the Greyhawk gods.

Hickory: That's D&D rot, hence it's stupid. Druids don't worship nor get powers from any gods.

Stig79: Yes they do in the Forgotten Realms setting. It is firmly explained in the campaign setting book. Jaheira worships Silvanus, for example.
Funny that, since in all my time traveling with Jaheira I never once saw any temple or altar dedicated to Silvanus, nor did I ever see/hear Jaheira pray, worship or utter a single word to her 'deity'. It's D&D rot and it's stupid.

Silvanus doesn't have temples....Druids don't build temples. They build Druid circles and things like that. Also found in the lore, mind you. You visit two such sites in the games as well.

http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Jaheira Says it right here that she is a druid of Silvanus.

""Khalid? Silvanus let him hear my vow... If I must, I shall empty this entire city of all within to find his killer... So do I swear."

She also says something like "Silvanus guide his light" when Khalid is found dead as well. And she mentions Silvanus plenty during BG2.

During the Druid Stronghold quest Silvanus is mentioned a bit as well.

So...it is not D&D that is is stupid, it is you. The information has been right in front of you while you have been playing the game.

I see you have trouble grasping the point. I'll let you stew.

How did you NOT see her mention Silvanus in the game? She does it all the time, man.

Nope, that's not it.

Answer the question, please. You said you had had Jaheira in your party a lot. And never seen her mention Silvanus at all. So what is it? Skipping the dialogue?

Anyway. Now you know. Druids in the Forgotten Realms has to have a patron deity. And Jaheira worships Silvanus.

It won't help you get the point: you don't want to.

Then please enlighten us as to what "the point" is. Because until you do, what you've been saying sounds like code for "Someone has shown that I was mistaken, and instead of politely acknowledging it I'm going to rudely say some cryptic nonsense about how they've 'missed the point' in a poor attempt to make it look like I wasn't actually mistaken."

And what on Earth is "D&D rot" supposed to mean?

I think "all the time" is an exaggeration, but yes, she certainly mentions him.

D&D rot = the stuff he claimed was stupid in d&d. The problem is it was only "stupid" because he didn't understand the material. When confronted with the facts he just went into "That does not compute"-mode.

Yes. She mentions him quite a bit. Even more so if you romance her, I think.

I already did. Twice. And I'm completely uninterested in what you or anybody else erroneously thinks.

And what on Earth is "D&D rot" supposed to mean?
I'm not explaining that one either. It's evident enough.
