So I've finally gotten around to trying BG:EE. Overall, I'm satisfied and will keep playing. I picked up Neera the wild mage and am having some fun with her.

That said, the sound files are all horrible. The PC sounds and Neera's sounds all sound like they were recorded in a bathroom. Echo-ey, tinny and hollow.

The original sounds are all great. But then, Neera talks in the open woods and it sounds like she's in a tiled, tiny room. Very goofy and rather amateurish.

Again, overall, I'm satisfied. It's been nice to take a stroll through BG again with something different going on -- and I love the zoom and map going on. And I don't hate the cut-scenes (they're still not what I would consider "good"). But it would have been nice if Beamdog cared to do the job a bit more professionally.

That's absolutely typical of the Beamdog voice overs. Actually, as bad as Neera is, wait until you hear some of the lesser, incidental NPCs in her quest. Sounds like kindergarten recorded them. Terrible.

The character herself sounds like a Californian bimbo who has just taken her 500th selfie of the day, and is desperately trying to charge her phone so she can update her blog.
I like Neera... don't disagree the sounds could have been done better but just saying, she rocks
What's unforgivable is you can get a boss mic setup for about $200, a beautiful microphone, shock mount, mic stand and pop. Correctly set-up (mic settings, position, software) and you could record in an actual bathroom and it should sound beautiful.

Obviously a studio would be even better - but it's not necessary. You can listen to Youtube commentators with that type of mic set-up (or less) podcasting from their homes and it doesn't sound tinny or echoy. (Sure, some do, but the ones who have configured their system don't - and they're not broadcasting from studios).

So far, I'm agreeing. She's got Spunk.inthink some folks don't like the mesh. She is somewhat out of place with the rest of society, but I think that works for her character. She's not completely on-track with the rest of the world. She is a reject, a culture of one.

I'm hoping it gets even more interesting as I pay.

She is the worst IMO. The other new voices I can put up with, but Neera's is absolutely terrible. I think the actress was dating somebody at Beamdog.

Ye gods we don't need GG to restart on the back of "ethics in videogame voice acting". :-)

GG got debunked last year. According to the FBI, GG was just a made up boogyman. Their files on the whole thing got made available.
