Having issues connecting with my friend to a multiplayer session. I am running The CD version of the game from the BG2 collection box set; Windows XP. He's running the GOG install; Windows 7

Both of us seem to be able to host mp sessions, but when we enter the IP adress it says can't connect.

Anyone know of a fix. Already tried running in Windowed mode, no good.

Have you tried using GameRanger?

I just tried that. went to the website and downloaded the installer.

It won't install, says that it can't connect to GameRanger. Is there a problem with the service right now?

I'm not sure because I have never used it but from research and seen it been used by other players is the #1 program to get old games to work multiplayer. I could do a test on it but I don't know someone that has the game that I know in person.
Testing now just to see what can I figure out to help :D. No promises though.

Well I am kinda stuck, My BG games are windows run on CXG to make it work on Mac and GR doesn't recognize them but it does recognize other games. When you download GR it will tell you to create an account. Create the account and click the link from the e-mail that you will receive in seconds. Then you can hit continue on the screen and GR will log in.
Edit: BTW through the GR preferences you can make the program recognize the game and then you can host it. I hope this helps, let me know how it goes.

No problems with the service. There are over 30,000 users online right now.

Any chance you're with Comcast?

Time Warner
I think that they are affiliated with Comcast.

I found a way to connect, had to enable DMZ for my PC in my router. Problem is now that the Collection Box set I have is not the same version number as the GOG version and the game kicks my friend out of the lobby when the connection is made.

It seems to work with GameRanger.
