The 25$ price tag is just insulting. The only way I can treat both Enhanced Editions seriously is if they were 5$ addons to the original games (I still wouldn't buy them though).

For that amount you can have both BG games and IWD/PST on top of it, or even the whole Infinity Engine collection if there's currently a D&D promo (and D&D games are suspiciously often in some kind of promos here on GOG). Let's summarize BG2 EE by this clip ;)

You can get virtually anything that 2EE has by simply buying the GOG version and adding in whatever 3d party mods and add-ons *you* choose. I certainly didn't see anything in BG1 EE that justified the cost of it, for me, and I don't expect BG2 EE to have anything justifying its cost either.

IMHO, the only thing BG1 EE really added was three NPCs - well there are *dozens* of additional NPCs available from mod authors. So why would I be the least bit excited?

The $25 is more like a convenience fee for people who want the game updated, modded & updated multiplayer compatibility. Right now me & my friend cannot play BG2:SoA because the gog dowloader only has BG2 Complete which auto-installs ToB over amn. GameRanger does not recognize the regular SoA exe file. All other avenues to play with eachother have ended in failure.

You need to think long term. Isometric DND based RPGs are making a bit of a comeback with kickstarter, which is fantastic, but underneath publishers they are still dead. Purchasing the Enhanced editions is an investment in Baldur's Gate 3. It's a way of showing interest at the very least.

That's personally the only reason I see to really buy them, as the added content doesn't entirely justify the price in my mind. And it still can't compare to BGT.

Not really, the series doesn't need another sequel. After you kill all the other demi-gods what more is left to do? Watch that incredibly annoying half-elf druid shoot out kids? No thanks.

The only reason to buy the "Enhanced" versions is to play them on an iPad or if they get off their butts an Android tablet.

It depends how much a fan you are of BG to begin with. Although i agree that the EEs doesn't expand or introduce much content besides vanilla it's a convinient bundle to say the least. Even if the gog version with mods offer the same content(as the EE version) plus mods, the new gui in EE(next patch), hi-res renderer in BG2:EE, zoom functions, instant loading, to me is invaluable. I would never go back to the gog version again. But i understand why so many find it a ripoff, basically tutu with an absurd pricetag!

Package Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition on a DVD and have it placed on a Wal*Mart shelf...
