Maposincetobi: Jonesy, do you mean your HDD died six times, or that it was just one but the problems caused were like if it had broken five times? Anyways - yeah, I was lucky. I didn´t even lose any data. I´m being more strickt with the backups from now own, though
Oh no, nothing like that. Just trying to communicate that it had failed once, and that single failure was an experience that I would have preferred not happen (kind of like saying "I paid $5 for that, and it was $10 too much" to express regret over buying something overpriced that turned out to not be worth it); granted, your second interpretation isn't that far off, since the crash happened early on during last semester and almost took a lot of my notes with it.

Either way, that's kind of baffling that you didn't lose any data. Sorry to hear about the internal damage, but at least the thing seems to be otherwise functional and the HDD doesn't seem to have thrown all the data off of itself in a temper tantrum. Good luck with nursing the laptop back to health.

Nothing like a catastrophic failure to justify a comprehensive system overhaul =P Think of it as a blessing in disguise. Did you not hear her screaming for help? =P By the time you're through with the revamp she'll be purring like a kitten.

Shame on you. Treat your computer hardware better you heartless cad =P

In all seriousness though, best of luck with all that. My laptop is held together with ductape and hot glue and somehow still manages to chug along XD

Remember, if your computer suffers from neglect it'll always go balls up at the most inconvenient time. Cheers.

Now, where did I put the ductape ...
