Bombs-Away.net used to be the big mod site for this sim. The site is gone but their forums are still around, and have links to more B-17 II mods than you can shake a stick at:

I went to this link and for the life of me I couldn't find any mods... Anyone have a direct link to the downloads? And once you get them, how do you apply them?

Thanks,
Rob
Its bit tricky. Wayward released OMFmod utility that enables apply modded art files. Problem is it works only on Win98. So i installed mine in that way. I enabled XP mode in win 7 (or you can use Virtual PC on XP, what win 7 XP mode actualy uses too) and installed virtualized Win 98 into Vistual PC. Then i intalled B-17 + OFMmod utility in virtualized w98. Then i applied all art mods i wanted and choosed RiverAndRoads file mod (its loose txt file that wayward exported to allow some data moding like formations etc) then i copied modded game files back to win 7 and isntalled B-17 normaly there and used modded art files from win98. Easy, isnt it :). When i get to home i will try collect all mods i still have and upload it for ya. If you are insterested i can upload my modded art files as well. Basicaly i added crew vests and oxy masks and some UI changes like crowded briefing room and clean sights + RiversAndRoads file i like to fly so you are ready to copy it and try.

I remember requesting this game here for GoG several years ago.
Glad that they finally got it available here.

Found this:
http://glewis.us/v7th_Recon/helplinks.htm

There are mods at the bottom half of the page, Top half is full of links, don't know how many are still good or not.

Glad I put that link there. :) Read the ReadMe and you need the OMF Utility to add the mods to the game. there is a active link for the OMF Utility on amongst the links on that page.

Ataribaby: Are you using Beery's R&R 5 mod with you compilation?

I can't seem to get the OMF to work correctly, it is either because B-17 II is patch two or the utility doesn't like Win7 64bit or just me. Really was hoping to do some personal-ifcation.

Yeah probably Beery's R&R 5 or Beery's R&R 4 dunno now. It was eons ago. OMF utility dosent work on modern OS. You can use virtual PC win 98 trick i described,
I still have a Win98 machine set up :) I guess I'll do it there.

OMF comes up and looks like it is ready, nut all buttons and tabs are greyed out on Win7 :( At least I have a work around.
Lucky you! Played campaing mission yesterday and wow this sim is still a gem! I still have retail box with cd and manual from its release. I just missing copilot callouts of speed and alt on take off and landing. In first B-17 Microprose game they were there.

Actually, the OMF does work under Win7 64 bit. I moved copies of all the OMF files to a separate folder. Then right clicked on an OMF file and selected "Open with" and set the OMF Utility as default program. I have been able to open up OMF files, view the images and export them. Have yet to try import, but not sure why it wouldn't work.
