Avernum: EftP had a setting under "Game Area Size" for using the "whole window," as does Avadon 2. Crystal Souls on the other hand, has only small, medium, and large settings, the highest of which still only fills a 4:3 box in the center of my screen. Is this an oversight on the part of the developer, or is this unique to the GOG version and can it be fixed?

I have attached screenshots from Avernum 1 and 2 to demonstrate the issue.

None yet, that I know of. What machine and OS are you running this on. I am running this on a 27" iMac with OS X 10.10

i am on windows 8. i thinks its related to resolution, as @ 2560x 1440 res the game added the 4:3 box, lowering to 1920x 1080 res corrected the issue...

i'll also second that this was not an issue previously with Eftp, only Crystal souls.

if its related to the resolution im sure theyll get it fixed eventually, for now im just going to play it in 1080p

Yeah, it sounds like a bug. None of the other recent Spiderweb games have it, so it can be fixed. I don't have a 1920 x 1080 option, but lowering it to 1600 x 900 makes the problem go away. However, I'd much rather run the game at my native res, so I'll wait for them to fix it.
I hate to necro my own post, but it's three years later and Avernum 3 has the same damn bug. What the hell, Jeff? I still haven't played Avernum 2 because I've been waiting for this to be fixed, and it's still broken in Avernum 3. Seriously, this is the last Spiderweb game I'm buying until you fix this. It's 2018; monitors have been widescreen for a very long time.

Have you contacted Jeff - support@spiderwebsoftware.com -about this at all? He is usually very good at fixing problems. If not, try GOG support, maybe they can help.

I think we are having the same issue. Between this and the lack of cursor lock and having multiple monitors, it makes the gme a bit frustrating. I asked about this on the steam forums

https://steamcommunity.com/app/691830/discussions/0/1699415798757005797/

His response was this.

Spiderweb [developer] Feb 1 @ 2:29am
The game makes the window a tiny bit smaller that the whole window. If I make a game window and don't do that, I get weird mouse interference with the start menu (Windows) and the dock/menu (Mac). If you want the game window to fill the screen, just play full screen. You can Alt-Tab to switch applications.

Feel free to post over there and maybe he will finally look at the issue and make it work. I thought I was the only person that had an issue with this.. issue.
