It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

When I try to play Avernum 6, I get the error message below.

So I thought I would uninstall and reinstall, but when I uninstall I also get an error message (will wait 10 minutes and post that in a different post since I don't know how to have two images in one post.

More details in the second post.

Looks like a problem with Visual C++. Try reinstalling it.
Also, for more pics in your post, just click on "attach" again.

First, whenever I hit attach again, it REPLACES the first image with the second and still has only one. Maybe my browser???

If by reinstalling it, you mean Avernum, I can't because I can't uninstall it. If by reinstalling it you mean C++, I can't because I don't know how AND I don't think that's the problem even though that's what it looks like. Maybe this post will explain why, but I'm going to respond in the other thread and ask if anyone else that did what I did is experiencing this same problem. If so, would need to know how to undo that procedure.

When I try and uninstall it so I can reinstall it, I get the message below.

The helper dll caught my eye because, from the other thread above, I made changes in order to view the help file in Avernum 1 and am wondering if those changes are why I can't now uninstall and I don't know how to undo those changes.

Basically, I'm wondering if those changes made are why I'm getting both errors and am going to ask others in that thread if they're seeing the same thing.

But in the meantime, can I "reinstall" without uninstalling??? Would that do anything?

No, it doesn't replace it, just try it, trust me. ;)
Okay, will try it now. If it works, then something has changed, because I know in the past I've tried it and it would always replace it instead of adding it.

EDIT: Yep, it works now. I swear though I've tried it multiple times in the past and it didn't, although it has been awhile since I tried.

Thank you VERY MUCH. I now know I can add multiple attachments to a post AND reinstalling over top of the current install fixed both Avernum 6 not running AND the uninstaller not working. However, the problem of not being able access help in Avernum 1 appears to have resurfaced. The two issues must be related in some way.

You should probably contact support with this. ;)

Apparently it's a Windows thing (see the other thread), as following the instructions from Microsoft fixes the issue. But in fixing the issue, it must do something that makes Avernum 6 and uninstalling shaky. Or maybe they're not related at all and it's all just a coincidence.

But when you hit the F1 button, you get a message from Windows saying something to the effect that help doesn't work but if you follow the instructions, it replaces some dll files and then works.

Why you would want any quick fix dll hack when you have official and optional DL program?
