HELP!
Yesterday, I downloaded and installed Avernum of Blades. Game started well, was able to choose party, spend last 8 points for each character and game started...That is when it stopped working as it should! My mouse was working ok up to that point but once the game started I could not get any reaction to my mouse clicking on any pop up ( i.e. main game meny appeared when ESC button used but clicks were unresponsive)...I could use keyboard but not mouse. I restarted the game, and same thing happened 2 more times...mouse worked ok until the actual game started (characters were in some room)...Can anyone please shed any light on this??? This specific problem is first time that happened, no problem with Avernum 4,5,..Have not tried playing Avernum 1,2,3.
My pc: cpu: i7, Win7 Home premium, 4GB RAM, nVidia 650M with 2GB vidRAM. Latest vid driver!

I found out what was causing the problem by googling and reading a lot of sites...Solution: WinXP Compatibility! Once I chose that option, the problem was gone. Since this game is from late 1990s, you have to run them in WinXP or Compatibility with it...Please regard this question SOLVED!

Just a heads up but these games are NOT from the 1990s. The original games; Exile 1-3 and Blades of Exile (the remake is called "Blades of Avernum" BTW) were made and published in the 1990s but the Avernum remakes of these games came along post 2000.
Blades of Avernum was released in 2004. One of the newer "Good old Games" for this site, really. Remember to play the user made scenarios if you try BoA as that was the biggest aim of the game and its fun. Much like BoE (although that one seemed to get the most attention from the creative types).
