This is pretty disappointing. I emailed Jeff and Spiderweb about when and if these games were coming to GOG. This was their reply:

"Gog.com isn't interested in those two games, but they'll hopefully want our new games in the future. Sorry!"

Really GOG? You have all their other games. And it can't be about quality, since Nethergate Resurrection and Avernum:EftP are both a step up technically from Avernum 1-3, which you sell.

At least i bought them when the Humble Weekly sale was going on. And i have them on Steam as well. Still, i'd rather have them on GOG. Hope GOG reconsiders and contacts them :(. Oh well...

Note: Posted this on the Avernum forum first, but thought i should post it on the other Spiderweb game forums to let people know, in case anyone else was waiting for them to show up here.
You should open a request at the Wishlist..then people that are interested can vote for it.

Dont forget to vote for Exile series (available free from Spiderweb Software's home page. Just remember Exile 1-3 are 16-bit applications and won't work on 64-bit operating systems.):

I saw this thread on the Avernum forums as well. Did they not sell very well here or something?

Only GOG knows why. My opinion, based on nothing, is it's the packaging.
I'm guessing that the Avernums and Avadon didn't do tell well. I have absolutely no evidence to back up that assertion though, other than very little action in the respective forums.

Which is a shame. I was really hoping that GOG would add Avadon 2 when it's released. The first one was great and better than Avernum: EFTP in my opinion

Well they've not done too bad if you look at best selling list. I did not count excatly but Geneforge is somewere between 100-200 range (few positions below Torchlight that was GIVEN FREE while back). Avernum is bit above the middle of the list (250-350 or so) and Avadon is less than 100 positions below it (bit under middle. it's two positions below king's bounty: crossworlds goty) so even avadon has over 200 games below it in sales. Avadon 1 and Avernum series havent even been here for year yet either.

Nethergate is also completely different setting (roman occupied britannia) and Avernum: Escape From The Pit has been streamlined and graphics are around avadons quality so it might appeal more causual group like avadon did so not getting them on GOG doesn't make much sense.

Edit: Geneforge Saga is 149th (out of 627 titles) in the best selling list

I suspect that Avernum: EftP will not be on here soon because they just added Avernum 1-6 here less than a year ago and it does not sound sensible to be offering a second remake of Avernum 1 (counting Exile: EftP) that is marginally, if at all better than the original(s). Nethergate: Resurrection is a bit harder to figure out. It may be that they are afraid of getting the game (which was not a top seller for Spiderweb) only to see Jeff releasing ANOTHER remake of the same game. I suspect the original Nethergate would be freeware right now (along with the Exiles) if not for Jeff seemingly trying to remove it from existence in favor of his more recent remake. I cannot imagine there is any plausible package deal involving Nethergate since both versions are essentially the same exact game and the same goes for Avernum: EftP and Avernum 1 as well.
Bump to raise awareness. Let's make GOG reconsider!
Bump now that Avernum 2: Crystal Souls has now been officially announced to be released later this year.
