I applied the correct recipe (correct me if I'm wrong, haven't played the game in a while): Scrap metal+Rope+Babushka scarf, in exactly that order from left to right, clicked on the 'Experiment' tab, and only use exactly one of each of the components. My best guess is low 'Tinkering' skill, I'm currently sitting at 44 right now.

Any possible troubleshoot/workaround?

Edit: It seems that the recipe found on the English wikis is incorrect, the correct recipe is as follows: Scrap metal+rope+babushka scarf+homemade crossbow.

The correct recipe (and possibly recipes) can be found on the game's Russian wiki.
