Does this mean the PC version got upgraded to match the PS4 version? If that's the case a dream would come true for me.

Yep!

Zaphero: Yep!
To be exact actuall the game got no upgraded, instead the PS4 version got emulated. Rather poor performance-wise but better than nothing.
I tried it after a very long time I haven't played the game and... TBH I preferred the "non-Definitive" version of the game :(

The original option makes the game play exactly like the non definitive edition but honestly I don't like the arranged style. Controlling the lock on, specials work differently, etc just make the game less dynamic if you ask me. Let alone mention the fact the game isn't a PC port just an emulation with a custom emulator. However the general changes are good, especially the changes at stage 5 (when the machine get upgraded from X-Bread to Astebreed). But still it is quite negative how much the performance is changed because of the lackluster port compared to the original PC version.

Yeah, that's what I mean.
I don't talk just about the performance but also about the way the game sounds and feels, which, as I said, I preferred in the original.

In this newer version, the menu sounds seem a bit loud and "obnoxious" compared to the previous soft and clear ones, the new Stage 5 music is very beautyful but I prefer the old one playing thorough the whole stage up to the boss, while the "renewed" Stage 5 boss theme (which was previously the whole Stage 5 music) doesen't sound as good as the original either, and maybe is just me but even if the new graphics might be better I prefer the older ones because seemed crispier and more eyecandy, while now everything seems somehow darker.

Maybe I'm talking only for myself here, but it would be nice if we could have the option do download the older version of the game as well.
We already have the "Astebreed Prototype" in the Extras section here on gog, so why not add a "Classic Astebreed" too ?
Can we have that, please ?

Luckily I have the original CD version of the game which may not have English language option but not like it is needed lol. About the graphics I not really seen any difference but that is maybe because of my hardware or settings. It is possible the Definitive version has different default settings but I'm using the old save file so my original settings carried over, I don't know. As I said the arranged gameplay isn't fun for me but I can't ignore the stage 5 theme. For me it sound so awesome and fitting and well timed for the scenery. Really suggesting it is a winning counter attack. Second only to the last boss theme in my opinion though it isn't looped sadly. :)

I am also playing with an old savefile, but... dunno, the graphics seem darker for some reason, every other game is fine instead.
Also, I sadly don't have the CD version, so that's kind of a problem if I want to play the older version :(

This is the main problem of digital distribution. Unlike the old CD and DVD games where you downloaded a patch manually here you can download only the latest version without the option of reverting. Of course separate patches take a lot of space on the server but still have advantages.
