I know I can just click on "More", then on "ASHES OF THE SINGULARITY (DX12)", but I often click on "Play" instead, out of habit.

I'd like to just forget about it and launch the DX 12 version whenever I click "Play" instead.
I found a shortcut called "Launch Ashes of the Singularity" in the install folder, which points to the DX 11 version, but changing its target path didn't seem to affect Galaxy at all.

Any ideas?

You can create a shortcut to launch Ashes_DX12.exe from the Ashes installation folder.

I heard that unless you launch GoG games through Galaxy, Galaxy can't track your play time or achievements.
If you can confirm that this is not the case, I'll consider putting a shortcut on my Start Menu and mark this as the answer.

I'd hate to invest hours into the game, then notice that I haven't earned a single achievement, just because Galaxy never knew I was playing. Yes, I actually enjoy hunting for achievements.

Good point, thanks for bringing it up!
You are correct that Galaxy does not track playtime when launching from the EXE directly.

As long as Galaxy is running already when you launch the game achievements will work. The verification is whether the "Multiplayer" button is enabled. If it is, then Galaxy and the game are communicating.

Thanks for the info.

Playtime, I can live without. As long as achievements still work, I'm happy enough.
