I know this has been asked several times already, but nothing of the supposed fixes helped...

The problem: the mouse works generally quite fine, except for ... precise movement, like putting things into the inventory. Here the mouse gets REALLY choppy/laggy :-(
This is nigh impossible to play the game with!

o) mouse acc. is off
o) I found that mouse sampling rate of 1000/sec can lead to issues in older games, so I set that to 125/250
o) some nvidia driver settings like aa off, pre-rendered frames 2, vsync off / on, ...

Any ideas what else I could try?

It might be worth checking out Arx Libertatis as it fixes all sorts of problems. For what it's worth, I now wouldn't play without it installed :) Full details can be found here;

If you still have mouse issues with the latest Arx Libertatis release (1.1.2) be sure to test the development snapshots and let us know if that fixes is.

It does!!

But for some reason I cannot "bend the bars" to get out of prison? I'm pretty sure that I have to double click it, but I can click as much I want, it won't budge :-\

But it is my 1st time playing, so I could be at fault here...

yep, I just tried Arx "default" and I can double click: cell door or the iron bars, which then let me get through... that's weird!

Ok, it was because I changed the controlls ingame... I now re-did them with notepad and it works :-)
