Please help! I'm stuck on this same puzzle. I've got the runes/tablets, guessing they have something to do with it, but I really don't comprehend what I'm meant to be doing...

This one makes more sense once you understand it. First of all, you need a total of six of these stones. If you don't have six, head back through the areas you've already visited (including earlier floors) and explore until you find them all. Remember that you can break gravestones with a pickaxe (at least one of these stones is in a grave, if I recall correctly). Anyway, the puzzle has two stages.
For the first stage, you need to rotate the dials repeatedly until the symbols on the inside (not the outside) match the strange symbols shown on the floor in the chambers you explored earlier on the same floor. Once you do it correctly the ghost will congratulate you in a short cutscene and some small pedestals will rise from the floor.
The second stage is much less straightforward. I never managed to work this one out logically, but there is probably a way. Anyway, check out the walkthrough on GameFAQs for the specifics (it has a fixed-space diagram so it wouldn't paste in here very well). Note that his instructions say to combine the stones with the platforms, but this is incorrect; you must place the stones on them by dragging and dropping (attempting to combine them won't work).
Once the second stage is complete the ghost will congratulate you again and the path will open. Hooray! :)

Ah, you're right. It's a while since I've done this part. As for the correlation with the inside symbols, I guess I overlooked that because it is so stunningly obvious. :D

Thank you both! I've now managed to get past that crazy puzzle. Could figure out where the symbols were earlier in the chambers... but I could figure out what I needed to do thanks to your uploaded image.
Onwards I go...

Alrighty.... tried a dozen or so methods, anyone have a picture of how this is supposed to look for the 1st stage? and then 2nd? Been messing with this one thing for hours now and cant figure it out............ ..: (

does anyone knows where to find the circle carved stone? i need the shield of the ancients

1. Go to the chamber were the first mummy appears (cutscene).
2. Upstairs you have 6 rooms. Look on the floor for the symbols (each room has a symbol).
3. Write down the symbol and room position were you found it.
4. Now put the wheel outer-symbols in the correct order (remember the chamber symbol/room position).
Ghost tip: "Do you remember - you come from the setting sun and go towards the rising sun..."
If you put all the wheels outer-symbols in the correct order the ghost will speak to you saying that you are in the correct path.
5. To end the puzzle resolution look to the inner-symbols on the wheels and use the 6 stones that you have found.
