White textures anyone? Random crashes? I have the cd version of Arx Fatalis and I keep having those problems so I'm willing to spend a few bucks if GOG's version works 100% on Vista.
Is it working flawlessly for you? What issues are you guys having if not?
I'm asking since I don't want to purchase a game I've already acquired years ago just to test if it works.
This is one of the games I truly miss from the ol'days ='(
For white textures, there's a user made patch here which may help.
For random crashes, set compatibility mode to Windows 98 / Windows Me (athough at least one person has had an issue with compatibility mode borking widescreen support).
I don't know about white textures, but the random crashes are still an issue in the gog version, fixable by setting compatibility mode.
Edit: Fixed link. nVidia's forums are weird.

There shouldn't be any white textures in the GOG version of the game, although I'd still give a resounding NAY until the Fatal Memory Error(!!!) is fixed.

"Fixed". Milage may vary.

I can confirm that it also affects me. It's not that it breaks widescreen support (1280x800 is still available, for example), it just doesn't allow any resolution higher than 1280x1024. Without compatibility mode on you're able to use whatever setting you want... but you risk constant crashes.
I pretty much picked it up because I like the game, it still runs better than the old CD version, it's on sale, and even if it never gets fixed it's only $5 wasted, but I admit that's a whole lot of excuses for a pretty wonky release.
I downloaded the Gog version of Arx Fatalis. 1,19 version by the way. I can run the game flawlessly on my laptop:
Core2DuoT5750 2 ghz, 2 gb ram, 256 mb geforce 8600m gs, Vista SP1.
But when I installed it on my new gaming rig on Vista, I can't even run the game. I click on the Arx symbol, nothing happens. Arx.exe runs, I can see it on task manager, but nothing runs on screen. Specs:
Core2Duo 2,95 ghz, 4 gb ram, 1 gb geforce gts250, Vista SP1 and XP SP3 dual boot.
I tried everything (compability, EAX fix and such) no avail, then I booted to XP SP3. I played the game flawlessly. Weird problem, but it is not related with the operating system. So, I hope it runs on your rig.
I am experiencing the same issue as Gokyabgu on my Vista 64 install..have tried compatibility, changing video drivers, re-installing with Anti-virus disabled, running as admin...all to no avail, still messing about...will post any developments.
I use XP, but I doubt if it works on Vista.
The reason is that even on XP, it doesn't work if you upgrade your DirectX beyond 9b. I faced the same problem with MDK2. I have to keep a separate Win installation just for these 2 games.
I don't wanna jinx it, but so far the game has been working fine on Vista with the exception of a few saving issues and a sporadic fatal memory crash.
I'm running it on the dreaded cursed painful Vista 32 bit, with 8600GT and a widescreen monitor but running std resolution. Once I turned anti-aliasing off it has been working pretty well. There were a few random memory crashes earlier on, and I'll be trying the compatibility mode if it happens again.
