Updated 9/29/2016: The fix have been solved. All no lags and Multiplayer mode. Windows 10, not sure about Windows 7. And this fix is also worked on Army Men World War too.

Original 3DO game, not GOG version fix

I have uses all my time to fix the original army men 2 gog ver, but no luck so far. But the original 3DO version, I got the fix.
IDK this fix would apply to all or some users, but mine, so far successful. Playing army men 2 original on windows 10. Here's the fixes I will show you.

1.) First, you need 2 registry files from Fix Ya Games:
https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=F2586F89C2515A42&id=F2586F89C2515A42%21135&parId=root&action=locate
Files credits to Fix ya Games for this neccessary files

2.) Install the 2 registry first from Fix Ya Games. There's a win 8.1, just install it even you are using windows 10. All are necessary. If Windows 7, don't try to apply win 8.1 fix to prevent further problems.

3.) Download Microsoft Compatibility toolkit and install it
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7352

4.) Use 32-bit version of compatibility toolkit to fix army men 2
-First create new fix by clicking Fix Button or icon
-Second type your fix name and browse your exe file to fix
-Third select Windows 98/Windows Me, and select:
*16 BitColor, 640x480, 8And 16BitAggregate Bits, Font Migration, HighDpiAware, RunAsAdmin, and
DirectXTrimTextureFormats
-Next click "next" then finish and save your fix
-Last click upper toolbar "File" and select "install" to install your fix to your .exe file

That's all for now. If have any further problem, reply me here.

Updated fix and works very well on Windows 10.

"So far, there is no way to play army men classic series in windows 7 if is not GOG version, tried and tried with many different ways, but the Windows 7 OS just keep rejecting these old games fixes."

Unless, there is a person who is more skilful than me. Though this will happened or not.

Does this work for the first Army Men game as well as Toys in Space? I'm guessing it should but just making sure.

Also, can you tell me if this would work for other 2D Isometric games such as Cossacks or American Conquest?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for late response, but you can try it :) ! Since Army Men World War works perfectly with this fix, if I'm not mistaken, Toys in space is older than World War, so it should be ok. Plus, almost all Classic army men files and folder structures are almost the same, Like I noticed with Army Men 2 and World War. So it should be no problem to apply this fix with army men 1.

Idk, haven't tried that yet. But I'm playing 2016 version of Cossacks, so idk :p .

Thank you for your reply, I can confirm that Army Men and Army Men Toys in Space work well.

As for Cossacks and American Conquest, yes I know about Cossacks 3, I own, play and mod it myself, but I was hoping that it would work for American Conquest Fight Back's Hawks' European Warfare mod that was set in the Napoleonic Wars, and Divided Nation, since me and others have faced problems with trying to run these 2 on Windows 10, they worked perfectly fine on Windows 7 however.

And I think I tried it with one or the other but it didn't work, however if you feel like it please try it yourself and tell me if you find another combination of settings or something, I would really love to get these going if possible until they make American Conquest 2, I just loved that game.

Cheers!

I tried with the Army Men 1 game, but still lagging
It doesn't appeared the "DirectXTrimTextureFormats" option.
You dont need anything special on Win7x64. Runasadmin, disable themes (x2) in compatibility. Some color fix (open intel driver setting help on some machines, for other - there is more ways, check PCGamingWiki article about color fix).

For multiplayer (that pic should be about that, but it not) probably required thirdparty IPXwrapper tool. It still nothing special.

Also, optional is GameRanger - it support PC version of each of original engine games (up to World War) + Army Men: RTS. That program help to communicate and create private rooms.
