Gylfe: I'm with you 100%. I am not buying games that I would like, such as Arma 3, SW Battelfront 2015, and Skyrim due to the mandatory persistent connection. That and no sp for SWBF. I see everybody saying about how BF was meant to be online and such. I own the two previous battlefront games and have never played them online, yet I played them for hours. WoW was the only online game I ever played.
No sp for SWBF 2015!!!!! I am so glad I read this before buying. Not buying anymore.

Skyrim needs Steam, but it does not need to be connected to play. My Steam fails to connect half the time, so I have to run Steam in offline mode, but at least the game will still play. Of course there are also times that Steam just plain refuses to start. In this case it is time to play a GOG game.
all i can say is, be lucky you bought the games before, i literally bought arma 2 2 weeks before this happened
i already had ofp and arma
Are they going to put the games again ? I want them !

Bohemia Interactive is too pro-drm currently to return to a drm-free distribution : /
Maybe one day...

More likely they don't want to sell subpar versions of their games and tarnish their reputation. As the original GameSpy service is dead and buried they have migrated to Steam's multiplayer architecture, something they can not do for GOG or other stores.

Multiplayer is a BIG DEAL with these games, they would be lying to their customers if they sold versions of the game that don't have it.

Indeed, but maybe they could try to implement the multiplayer via GOG Galaxy ?

That would make very little sense. These separate versions of the games would not be able to crossplay with Steamworks and there is not enough people on here on GOG to form a separate ArmA-community with Galaxy. Except for ArmA2/Arrowhead, the older games are not all that populated on Steam even. Here they would be DEAD.

You must remember, the ArmA games are not multiplayer shooters. They are more like private server MMOs that need big communities to function. Dedicated communities with powerful permanent servers. Access to thousands of players. It can not realistically happen on GOG, but on Steam, yes.

I see. I never played OFP or Arma games in multiplayer (yes, I'm a lone gunner) so I don't realise the impact of the groups or community in the client global perspective.
