I'm playing Arcanum on Windows 10 and with all necessary patches and tricks applied so the game itself runs smoothly. But playing for one particular character (throwing weapons, neutral) I at some point of time noticed huge slowdowns and the 'loading' clock icon almost never disappers even if nothing happens on the screen and I don't even move. At first I thought that some other processes in my sytem take away CPU too much but I loaded several different saves and all of them had no lags at all (one of them had much more game time spent). I now suspect that probably the savegame tracks all projectiles you throw that didn't yet returned to your character and since I use chakram I throw tons of them and some seem to never come back. Is it true and if it is, how can I fix this problem?

I think I would occasionally get similar slowdowns in combat. Are you using turn-based combat? If so, try quickly toggling to real-time and then back to turn-based. That can "unlock" the frozen combat and let you continue. There's a keyboard shortcut for this but I forget what it is.

No, I don't use turn-based combat and entering/exiting it didn't help. Just when I load this savegame it looks like CPU begins some really heavy calculations. And it happens only for this savegame. I'm sharing savegame file on my Google Drive, feel free to give it a try

P.S.Savegame was made in the latest gog version of arcanum with latest unofficial patch, highres patch and fix for ddraw issue

I'm unable to test this right now but I'm worried it's just a bug. Sometimes Arcanum saves can get messed up, even with the unofficial patch. If so, you might be out of luck unless you can restore an earlier save.

But hopefully someone else here knows more and can help you out.
After starting several more new games I realized that this bug is probably connected with the use of chakram (or maybe its magic version) because I got the same slowdown for another character who uses it and no slowdown for the character who uses bladed boomerang

replace the ddraw.dll file with the 3 wine dlls it will make it run properly

look up ie_ddrawfix (i can't post links)
just download that zip extract it and replace ddraw.dll from Arcanum with those 3 files in the zip .

No this is not the reason. As I said I made all fixes (the one you've mentioned too) for game to run smoothly. This issue occurs only on one particular save
