Which is weird since Arcanum.exe properties says "version 1.0.7.4 (English)"
Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem as badunius. Tried to patch manually to 1.0.7.4 with the appropriate Patch-file. But that only broke the game entirely. :/

So I've got it to work now. Playing in german language in 1920 x 1080 resolution with no stuttering so far.
My steps:
1. Made a clean install with GOG-Galaxy
2. Installed the german patch from Compi-Ware
3. Installed the two inofficial Patches UAPv081004 from Drog Black Tooth’s (posted in the "Sammelthread zu Deutsch-Mods..." from user PoooMukkel
4. Installed the HighRes 1.5 patch with DDrawWrapper = 1 - which suddenly worked after installing the two inofficial patches

Maybe this helps someone. :)

@badunius: I think the HighRes-patch will work after installing the unofficial patch.

I recently got Arcanum, downloaded it and the various patches described (and linked) on this thread, I had no problem running the game under Windows 10, 1920x1080p resolution.

High res patch works on win 10 but you have to disable g-sync (tested with latest stable version of ddraw compat)

I seem to have run into a problem. I can't get the HighRes 1.5 patch to work, it keeps throwing back errors of needing Arcanum version 1.0.7.4 when I have the fully updated version of it. Maybe I should install via the original disks instead of GOGs 2.0.0.15 download. or maybe just do a fresh install delete saves and everything and try again?

I have played game a long time ago, wiht hi res patch, and I see now that patch alone have been updated.

I have instaled base game, than unofficial patch, than hi res patch.

whatever I do in configuration file, i get the same output. Always 1280*720, and image is streched. (I have entered 1920*1080)

1. uninstalled HI RES patch
2. than edited config file
3. instaled again

If anyone has problems right now downloading from Terra Arcanum: add www. before the URL that the site gives you for the download.

Example:

should be
http:// www.terra-arcanum.com/downloads/grab/BLAHBLAH.hash

Hey, I figured something out that people probably already know about, but I've seen some people ask about it in the past. Here's how to rollback on GOG patches, which I've never seen explicitly states anywhere. Maybe this will help somebody out who is dealing with Arcanum.

To roll back a patch on GOG Galaxy go to Arcanum's launch page and next to it will be a button that says MORE v

click that, go to Settings which should be the second one down

under Override Features uncheck [ ] Automatically update to newest version

a new set of options will appear called Version

and then there'll be

1.0.7.4 hotfix
1.0.7.4
27075661

Arcanum almost never gets updated, but the hotfix goofed up my install. so it's probably a good idea to leave Auto-updates off for the foreseeable future.

I have tried every way to install this mess And it doesnt work. I have the patch installed no trouble. I install the high res patch and hit play and it just starts and stops. No window or anything. I think this fix is not working anymore.


I got it working . I use Galaxy I cant launch from there. I launch from the folder and it works fine. Maybe adimn rights problem?

I have same problem. I installed High Res patch and then it doesn't work with GOG Galaxy.
But for me it also doesn't work when I try to launch from the folder :(
Any ideas?

Edit: Yeah! Now it works! I didn't know that Unofficial Arcanum Patch is required :D
