I followed everything in the original post. I'd like to run the game windowed very much, but adding "-window" or "-"windowed" to the shortcut just crashes it at launch. Can someone please help me?

So I just installed Galaxy and imported this to my client and it fudged with the mods. going to reinstall and disable automatic updates (not really possible when importing). Will edit this if there are further issues.

I searched but didn't see that this was posted as a known issue.

Where do I install these mods? The high resolution mod gives me an error, stating, cannot find dialogue.tlk.

The high resolution mod is causing me a lot of problems, the fmvs are skewed, and when I go to the creation screen part of the in-game UI is showing. when I try to pick my first items, the UI that is showing turns purpleish in color, and I can't use the arrow buttons to move between the character creation screens. Can I uninstall the resolution mod, or do I have to uninstall the entire game and download it again?

I've been trying to install the High Res patch but after I hit ''i'' to install it tells me patching failed and (Arcanum.exe version 1.0.7.4 English required ) .
this is a fresh install game starts normally using goggalaxy is that matters, any idea on whats going on?

edit - fixed my problem turns out I was forgetting the \ at the end of arcanum woops

When I install this it just ends up on my desktop. It brings a readme up of all the various patches. I don't know what to do next.

Hi everyone,

So finally I decided to dive again in Arcanum, I installed all the patches but the game has slowdowns, especially when when I choose an answer or when I run around in an area.

If anybody has an idea where it comes from...

Also, my OS is Windows 10.

EDIT : well if there are still slowdowns while selecting an answer, it seems there is workaround which make the game more bearable (especially when you are running around the map or fighting) : go to the folder where the game is installed, right click on the launcher icon, in the "compatibility" tab select "run as administrator".

Heyo,

you can also set some starting parameters for more stable game just add -doublebuffer -no3d to the Targetparameters , it helps me and alot of other users:)

Thanks for your answer but I found the solution with this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLx5WOUE6U0

I needed to do a clean install to get the game working as the setup on my previous install made things worse :-/

Everything works perfectly (even if navigating in 1920x1080 is sometimes tricky ^^) except you cannot launch form Galaxy, you need to add a shortcut on your desktop.

Without this ddraw file, on win10, even following this guide to the letter, would end up with a laggy unplayable game.

Since now using this patch.. both me and virgil have turned invisible.

Any ideas what I have done wrong? I can see our shadows.. not keen on playing the game this way though..

Since I am unable to download things from the links supplied in the OP (no Flash and I'd like to keep it that way) I found the files at a different location: http://ton-hur.mbnet.fi/files/Arcanum/ - might want to add that?

Sorry if someone has already suggested it earlier in the thread, I had a quick look through it but did not find it.

FYI, you bypass Flash by copy/pasting the .hash URL embedded in the page HTML.
