Does the files include copy-protected materials? If it is perfectly legal to distribute those files e.g. on my own download server?
Can't we have these downloads hosted by the Gog team next to the installer?
Also the installer says 1.0.0.0, but there is an official 1.0.7.4. patch out there. Why isn't that included with the purchase?

If you look in your sierra.inf you'll see it is patched to 1.0.7.4

Thx. But still, this should be highlighted on the download page.

Latest official patches are always integrated into older games on GOG. For some newer titles they provide universal patches (new indies generally) but in general installer comes prepatched to latest version.

The version in download page is GOG's internal version number and has nothing to do with game official version. 1.0.0.0 is old pre Windows 8 installer version and 2.0.0.0 is the new post windows 8 installer. Version number on universal updates doesn't have anything to do with actual game version either, again it's just GOG internal version number. Yes, this can be confusing especially with newer games and I do hope they change it at some point as more and more new games that will require patches are bound to be added to GOG.

Ah, ok i see, thx for elaborating on it!:)
So, I've recently powered up this game, and tried to use the various patches. Everything works fine, *except* the high res mod. If I set the high res mod to anything but the default 800x600, it functions, but the graphics are unplayably glitched out. Any ideas what causes this, and any way to fix it? I'm using XP service pack 3, for reference.
So I've also got problems with this HD patch, as it won't install. I've already seen that the creator of the mod no longer supports it, so I'm posted the installation error in the hopes that someone knows a way around.

I'm having a problem with the UAP.

I am able to download it just fine, but when I attempt to install it i get an error message saying that there has been an "error opening file for writing".

Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

If you weren't already, try running the setup as administrator.

And make sure your destination folder, is where you actually have the game installed.

I checked and am indeed the administrator but I still can't get the patch to install, I checked directories and files but nothing obvious jumped out at me. I played arcanum back when it first came out and successfully used the unofficial patch but for whatever reason I had trouble getting it to work the very first time through GoG. I didn't make any changes to where GoG installed the game, so I'm not really sure why its not working. Could some one walk me through this to see if there are any red flags? Like if for whatever reason my computer is trying to save the file in the wrong space either during the GoG download or the patch download?
Being the administrator, is not the same as running a file as administrator, it just gives you the ability to do so.
Right click on UAP091225.exe & select run as administrator.

I'm guessing your on win 7 now & have it installed in C:\ProgramFiles(86)....................
That makes them protected files & programs aren't allowed to edit them, unless run as administrator.

Thanks for the upload.
But what would be the position of level cap remover in this list, should I install it last?
Are there other links available for the music and townmap packs? The site keeps pestering me to switch to Chrome to download those.
