I'm using the latest fan patch for Arcanum but while playing I remembered how frustrating it was that you hit the level cap of 50 quite quickly in this game... so I'm looking for a level cap remover that works with the latest fan patch...

I've seen one here, in the "Arcanum hacks" category, under Arcanum (the very first one). It's called "Arcanum universal level cap remover v0.0.1", and it's said it's compatible with the unofficial patch.

I finally reached level 50 and when I'm about to rise to level 51 the game crashes >_<
Has anybody found this problem and how to fix it?

I had the same problem. There's a data folder in the arcanum folder. You have to create a rules folder inside data, and then put the file xp_level.mes inside rules.

So you need to have arcanum\data\rules\xp_level.mes. If you forget this (as I had) you'll get a crash when your character reaches level 51, presumably because the game will try to open a file that doesn't exist.

Arcanum\data\rules\xp_level.mes not rules\data.

Just copy paste the file there or create a new one, should look like this:

This seems to fix the crash issue with the mod in 2019 on Win 10, thx.

Do you need to install the level cap remover or can you just create the file yourself?

xp_level.mes only tells the game when to give new levels according to the character's experience points. It does not allow to go above level 50 by itself. You need to patch the game's executable for that.
