sergio1992: Thank you guys, other questions:
1- I wonder what is the best equipment for a warrior: techy or "magic"?
2- Would you advise doing a half-ogre techy?
3- What's the best melee build?? I wonder if you use tech or magic?
4- I wonder one thing about quests: when you ask for more money on quest, what is the skill relevant on the matter? Persuasion/charisma or Haggle??
5- Also, when you say that price is too high (for example when you wish to go to caladon via ship) or too low for some things(for example when you sell the real stillwater pelt), is it haggle the relevant skill??
6- If you don't have much beauty (for example 3) , are people going to attack you on sight??
7- Where can I read what is the max "strenght" for example, for half-ogres??
8- I don't understand how you become a thief in this game. I don't even know how to break open locks!
9- I wasn't able to find any evil guide on internet. Anyone has a link??
More questions to come. Thank you guys!
1. The best available equipment is Arcane weapons and armor, which are highly magical. (The wise women at the edges of towns sell them, randomly and rarely.) But there are great items for techies too, most of which you have to build yourself.
2 - To play a half ogre techie, keep in mind three things: a) take the 'rare birth' background; you'll need the IN. b) Half-ogre hands are too big to use handguns, though they can use two-handed firearms. c) Good large armor is hard to find; you may want to take Smithy, so you can build your own.
3 - This comes down to playing style; there's no 'right' answer. But DX is your biggest friend: the faster you are, the more attacks you get. And if you concentrate on Melee, ST increases your damage per hit.
4 - Haggle is for bargaining on quests; Persuasion opens more dialog options.
5 - Beauty lowers the cost of items that you buy. (Items that give a bonus to reaction, like a smoking jacket, also help; as does the spell Purity of Water.) Haggle raises the price of items that you sell.
6 - They have to have a reason to hate you (reaction -100 or lower, IIRC). Otherwise, they'll insult you until you kiss up to them and make nice.
7 - In general, max ST is starting ST +12. Since ogres usually start at 12, their max (barring specific backgrounds) is 24.
8 - You become a thief by doing thief quests: persuade your way past Lukan (or offer to blow up the other bridge), desecrate the elven tombs for Mrs. Pettibone, etc. Once you're in the guild, you can look for more quests, usually given by men hiding in alleys just off of main roads.
You break locks by finding or buying lockpicks (there's a set available at the very beginning of the game) and using them in conjunction with the Pick Locks skill. Or by learning and casting the Conveyance spell Unlocking Cantrip; though that doesn't work very well until you're more magical.
9 - Someone else'll have to help you out with this. My "evil" guide is the Official Strategy Guide, which I have in a print version (rather than online).
