Hi all, I searched around but didn't see anyone else having the same problem.

I have the High Res Patch and the unofficial patch installed. I can load the main game and all of the other modules except for Dusty Dunes (either with or without patch). When I try to load Dusty Dunes, I just get a featureless expanse of yellow desert and can't find my character (pressing 'home' does nothing to help).

If I go to the map view I can see the map itself, but I can't find anyway to go to where my character is. Anyone else have this problem? Hopefully with a solution?

TIA!

Hello,

You can open the worldmap and use waypoints to walk into the village.
The camera then focuses on the character again.
This at least works for me.
I can open the world map, yes, but I can't get it to do anything. What exactly are you doing to make it work? I feel like I'm missing something.
I have the high res patch installed and the UAP, so that might influence some things, have not tried on a fresh install.

I also start in a featureless desert.
But if I open the world map (press 'w', or 3rd button on the top left), it shows the village and me standing in the north of the village. To the bottom is a blacksmith. You can use the map to make waypoints by clicking to where you want to go.
Make a point to the south, a bit inside the village. Press the big green button on the bottom right to walk the path you have selected.
About when I pass the blacksmith's building, the view focuses on me and the issue is fixed.

Do you see the village, when you open the map?

Yes, that works, pressing the green button was the step I was missing. I was expecting the green button to light up, or something, so I never actually tried pressing it. I've got the high res patch (running in 1920x1200) and the UAP installed as well.
Arcanum's user interface is notoriously sneaky. A lot of fans love the compact, stylized, no-handholding design of it, but I think all it does is make more people give up on the game because few things are clear or obvious to a new player.

I mean I feel like buttons and menus should have labels, but I guess that's just old fashioned.
