To my understanding some locations can only be revealed on the world map from being told by a NPC or note while some locations can simply be found by zig-zagging across the world map.

For example I noticed Stringy Pete's Cove location was not revealed even when I landed directly on top of it so I assume I need to be told it from a NPC or note. However I was still able to manually walk to the cove.

Are there some locations that can only be found by manually walking to the location?

Comments are appreciated,

Thank you
Gorgoth Pass. You either need to know the coordinates from the web, or walk along the mountains until you find it.

Thank you for the response. Is Gorgoth Pass the exception along with Old Blind Master's House? All other locations can be found by exploring the world map or told by a NPC or note?

Kinda find it odd that Gorgoth Pass would be this "hidden" given it contains a shrine. I can't imagine what compelled players back then to manually walk around until they found these locations. Were there at least in-game hints to direct players to that area such as Aldous T. Buxington in Tarant?
It was just hinted at by NPCs, as far, as I could tell. Rumors in Caladon/Roseborough, that such a path exist, but nothing specific. Without help from the web, this would be the most difficult part of the gods quest . Kudos to whoever roleplayed so meticulously .

Maybe, if you get very close to the mountain on the map it might show up. But finding it accidentally without the coordinates is very unlikely.

I believe (someone please correct me if I am wrong) that there are some "secret" locations that are never revealed on the map and must be found my manually walking there. These are entirely optional places, not associated with any quests, but have some loot and other stuff. I never found one, but I think you can look up their coordinates in walkthroughs if you want.

If I remember correctly there are also some places which do get marked on the map but can only be found if you happen to travel nearby; in other words, no NPC will tell you where they are. These places are basically optional dungeons as I recall. Some are placed along common travel routes, meaning most players will find them. Others are more off the beaten path.

Gorgoth Pass isn't that hard to find. You're given general hints about its location, and if you search carefully, you'll find it.
