On October 1st Drog Black Tooth has released a new version of his Unoffical Arcanum Patch! After almost 10 years (last version has been released in December 2009) he decided to give us even better version of an already great patch. Even though some of the changes might be considered as questionable by some, it adds many interesting features nonetheless and includes HQ Townmaps, HQ Music and HR patch as well which makes the installation of Arcanum mods that much easier.

You can download it here: http://terra-arcanum.com/drog/uap.html#download

But let the man speak for himself:
The $500 stretch goal has been reached. The long awaited new version of the Unofficial Arcanum Patch will be released on October 1.
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for the support. You guys are amazing! Keep this going and we will do some truly amazing things with this game! The highlights of this release include:

- Everything is now in one pack, no need to follow any installation guide anymore.
- A huge amount of extra animations has been restored from an earlier build of the game, there are now downwards attack animations for all weapon/armor/shield combinations, as well as for most enemies. There are also animations for walking with your weapons out.
- Much longer and higher quality ambient tracks have been restored from an earlier build of the game.
- All official DLC (7 modules in total including the rare Lost Dungeon of Souls) are now included in the patch. High quality townmaps have been compiled for all of them, including the stock Vormantown.
- There's now a selection of beta content restoration modules as well as miscellaneous popular mods such as "Virgil's Debug Menu", all optionally selectable in the installer.
- You can now disable your party members auto-level scheme and distribute their points manually. This includes summoned and mind controlled creatures.
- All party members can now craft, simply right-click on their portrait and choose "Schematics".
- The high resolution patch has now been updated with 32 bit color depth support ensuring better compatibility with Windows 10.
- Music is now available in all modules, not just the base game.
- Added a '-cheatmode' command line switch that re-enables the official cheats.
- Some fixes for certain popular exploits have been rolled back.
- As usual, there are many new bug fixes and content restorations.
I've heard about him trying to get some funding for this but figured there was a slim chance of him doing anything but with 1.5 patch released it's time to give him some hard earned cash: http://terra-arcanum.com/drog/uap.html
Thanks for the tip, gonna play it again.
After disappointment with Multiverse Edition this gonna be good, wanna try other modules beside DoLS.
Gonna miss the switch disabling random encounters though...

Hi there. Thank you for the info. I will try it out next time I play.

Could you (and/or someone else) post a checksum for the UAP 1.5 file you downloaded? My net connection is kind of crap, and since neither Google Drive nor Mega provide them, checking if everything is correct with the file is practically impossible.

I have bad news for you, Drog has released a fix for this version so yours is a bit obsolete :). Currently this is the proper one: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1aOmenl3iP7loOOLhlJygdK44K6zly_CQ

Oh, my connection is just crappy (errors and drops), not slow, so it's no big deal. Still, a 480+ Mb download each time there is a small change? That's not well thought out.

Also, when I read it incorporated the HQ maps and music, and HighRes patch, I thought he had moved all those as "modules" using Weidu, being able to install each part as wished, etc... Nope, it's just a big ol' self-extracting file. Poor.

I'll download the new one and check the whole thing out when I have the time. Thanks for the checksum.

--edit--

Just realized what I wrote about the way the components are installed is poorly worded. You can choose different components to install or not since it is a regular windows setup program, but not with Weidu: that was the point, which I totally misrepresented.

The Patch includes "7 official DLC"

What exactly is this? I never heard of any DLC for Arcanum. Are this fan creations? Are these new stories to be played separately from the main game or are these new locations on the old world map in the main game?

Officially they're called modules and most of them (if not all) were created by Troika, e.g.
https://arcanum.fandom.com/wiki/Vormantown

or The Lost Dungeon of Souls: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/arcanum-the-lost-dungeon-of-souls-not-a-hoax-afterall.24123/
which was added to a bonus disc for exclusive edition of the game.
Can this be installed over the UAP, or does it require a clean reinstall of the vanilla game? Does the patch itself have to be in the Arcanum folder? Does the Arcanum folder have to be nestled in the 'Program Files (x86)' folder? (Mine is not; it's in its own folder, labeled 'Sierra'.)

I've tried installing it, and got a message to the effect of "Arcanum installation not found."

AFAIK you should install it over "clean" (i.e. either GOG or Steam) version. The patch should find the location of Arcanum itself but if it doesn't you can manually show where it is. AFAIK it's not recommended to install it in the Program Files (x86) folder unless it's a different partition than the system one (usually C:\).

This UAP installer can be executed from any location in the local computer for which you have execution rights (and probably network too, but have not tested that), no need for it to be in Arcanum's folder.

It does not need Arcanum (GOG install or otherwise) to be installed in any particular location, as long as you have read and write rights to the folder where the files are.

Bear in mind that if you are choosing the install folder manually with the "Browse..." button which is different to the autodetected one (from Registry keys I pressume) then you need to select the folder previous to Arcanum's folder in the tree, since the UAP setup adds \Arcanum to the folder you select. You could of course simply edit it with the keyboard after selecting the Arcanum folder, to make sure you don't make mistakes.

I just tested myself and the setup for this UAP installs over an older UAP without errors. In any case, if installing over an older UAP I cannot confirm if it wouldn't leave behind any unneeded or conflicting files. It is unlikely that it would create problems, since this UAP does not actually patch any files, it simply overwrites and copies in all the files it needs (including Arcanum.exe).

The only actual patching of files comes from the HighRes Patch (using Weidu), and you have to execute the batch file for it manually after installing this UAP. [A side note here: careful with the settings in config.ini, they are not the same defaults as the ones in the original HighRes 1.5]

Unless you have a very specific need for it, I would recommend to start with a clean install of the GOG backup installer at least.

This actually solved my problem, but not in the way you'd think.

Apparently, I have two copies of Arcanum on my computer. The folder I was originally trying to install to, must've been an older version from the physical CD (which I also have). So when I re-downloaded the installer and started to reinstall the game, it defaulted to the GOG Games directory, where lo and behold, I had the more current copy. Directing the new patch to that directory instead, is working like a charm.

TL;DR: I'm an idiot.
Nice. Just updated last month. Does it STILL have some kind of memory leak? The last time I played it with UAP 091225, the game will eventually slow down after I played it for an hour or two.
I agree with the OP. He did a nice job putting those essential mods in the UAP so that prepping the game isn't a hassel. I gave him some pocket change for his efforts.
