Vienna, AUSTRIA, August 18th 2015

Nordic Games and Digital Arrow announce the Kickstarter of Aquanox Deep Descent.

Backers can vote on which stretch goals should be prioritized.

In addition to that, assets and research from an unreleased THQ underwater action game called Deep Six have been integrated into the pre-production of the game.

More in-depth information, which would go beyond the scope of this press release, can be found on the Kickstarter Page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/806010995/aquanox-deep-descent

“Reaching the main funding goal of the Kickstarter campaign will allow us to create a new Aquanox game of the size and complexity it deserves, for gamers around the globe. At the same time, it also allows us to make its future players an integral part in development decisions surrounding the game at its earliest stages,” comments Norbert Varga, project lead at Digital Arrow.

“We’ve had long discussions with Digital Arrow about the scope of the game and the transition to Unreal Engine 4. Based on our positive previous experience with Kickstarter (The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 together with the developer KING ART), we firmly believe it is the right platform to help us achieve our joint vision for the future of Aquanox”, adds Martin Kreuch, producer at Nordic Games.

About Aquanox Deep Descent
Aquanox Deep Descent is a re-imagining of both the gameplay and world of the original AquaNox-series, taking into account the scientific advances made since the first game. Like its predecessors, the game will be an underwater vehicle shooter, in which players control a variety of customizable ships to engage in submarine battles in the dystopian deep sea world of Aqua.

-Fight - Action-packed vehicle shooter combat that supports a wide variety of play styles
-Co-op - 4 player drop-in co-op, with four unique pilots who are all involved in the game story
-Customize - Create your ship from an extensive range of ship pieces and various customization options
-Explore - Discover the deepest corners of the ocean
-RPG Elements - Mining, salvaging, trading and looting
-PVP - Classic multiplayer modes, including Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch Dogfighting

Stay tuned!

Thanks Thom. I asked the devs about a DRM-free release of this, and they are hopeful but noncommittal. I'm guessing that's because Nordic has final say as the publisher.

So let me ask you - if I back this, can I be assured of getting a DRM-free version? Whether or not it ultimately comes to GOG?

Thanks!

HI IAmSinistar: basically at the current stage, I can also just underline what the devs told you. Please also have a look at the FAQs at the bottom of the kickstarter page which are speaking about that point:

"Our goal is to make Aquanox available to as many people as possible and we aim to deliver a version that doesn't rely on platform services – so a DRM free version. However we can't promise that for sure at this stage; but if you look at the Nordic Games project history with GOG you'll see they are big supporters of DRM free versions!"

I'm curious as to why Nordic is hedging on this one, when other recent franchise reboots on KS like Underworld Ascendant and The Bard's Tale had no problem promising a DRM-free version and even committing to come to GOG. Seems like it would be an easy enough thing for Nordic to go with as well, and provide them a "win" here on GOG, where DRM-free is cherished. Certainly it would give the devs more backing, including from myself.
Good to know Nordic Games hasn't abandoned this game.
Though tempted I won't be pledging, I have had one too many bad experiences with crowdfunding so I'm just waiting and hoping it will be released some day.

Good luck!

P.S.
It would have been better to post this in the general forum, this subforum doesn't get much attention.

Ouch, I missed the Campaign. I do hope though that it will be available at release here, won't it?
