For the love of god i fiddled will all the settings in the anvil_conf, set it to aspect true, manually entered the resolutions for window and fullscreen and enabled general midi.
However whatever i do the game always displays in 16:9 in fullscreen instead of my desired 4:3 ratio...anyone know a fix for this?
Thanks for reading.
I assume that you have used other games that correctly use the 4:3 ratio with bars on the side, correct? If not, make sure the settings for scaling of your video card are correct. In NVidia, for example, it should be "Aspect ratio", and also check the box for the "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs" option.

In my case, with the default settings of the GOG install the picture ratio is correct.

In any case, if it is not a problem of the video card configuration, besides the options you already mention (except for general midi :P) the only thing keeping a DOSBox config from displaying correctly can be the renderer. Try changing the "output" option in the config file from "opengl" (the default in this GOG install) to "surface", "overlay", or "ddraw".

This can also be done with the shortcut "Graphic Mode Setup" that the install creates.
Thanks for the reply. I got a lot of other DOs Games that work fine in 4:3 like Tie Fighter and such.
Usually it is not a big issue..but this game behaves weird. I tried all the output modes to no avail, howver i managed to get black bars on top and bottonm as if it was 16:10 or so.

It works fine in windowed mode..but whenever the game is full screened it fills the entire space, except that 16:10 setting.
I also tried forcing several resolutions with scalers and without, the stretching persists.
You should probably try again with "fullresolution=original" and the different renderers, and make sure to start in fullscreen ("fullscreen=true"). It should not make any difference with Anvil, but I know of a few games with non-standard resolutions that do not work the same when starting in fullscreen than when making them fullscreen with ALT+Enter afterwards.

Other than that I can't think of anything else. Sorry

Greetings,

Every DOS game on GOG comes with a DosBox Confugurator.exe or (Graphic mode setup.)
In the basic settings you can change the graphic mode like opengl, overlay etc. And toggle fullscreen.

In the advanced settings
"See screenshot below"

The setting i believe you are looking for is Scaling Engine. Play around with the setting to see what works for you.
tv3x like in the screenshot seems to look like what you want.

Hope this helps
