Hey all,

Anvil of Dawn is a criminally underrated game, there doesn't seem to be many utilities and resources for it. So I have created a save game editor that will allow you to edit all the stats of your character, and your X and Y position on the map (for getting past those pesky, glitchy boulders).

I would like to share it with this community since some people may find it helpful, but I am unable to post links on this forum. Is there any alternatives to sharing it, or have I just hit a dead end?

Thanks!

Edit: I now have the Anvil of Dawn save editor here:
https://saveeditors.wordpress.com/2016/08/15/anvil-of-dawn/

Enjoy the game!

UPDATE: I have included documentation in the Save Editor (no extra files - it's embedded in the EXE) of everything I know about the file structure so far. So anyone who is interested can get their hands dirty now!

Maybe there's a rule concerning new members and posting links. You can PM it to me and I'll post it here. Anyway, it's a superb game; it's a pity there aren't many resources about it. Anyway, your editor is much appreciated! Previously I had to rely on awkward hex editing.

Hi Charon, thanks for the response! I have sent you a message with the link! Hope someone finds it helpful!

I have also since updated it since my first post to include some more features (being able to edit skill levels, such as earth, water, slashing etc..)

Thanks again!
And here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s0xcalpghw98xut/Anvil%20Of%20Dawn%20-%20Save%20Editor.rar?dl=0

I'm just itching to replay the game now; I like it much better than Lands of Lore, and in some ways it's more interesting than Might & Magic. A pity there's Fallout 4 to finish. :)

EDIT: Attached the file here for convenience, but since GOG forums don't allow uploading files other than pictures, I've renamed it as .jpg so you should reset the extension back to .rar after downloading.

Thanks a lot! Defiantly worth the re-play if you haven't played it in a while!

Edit: Just as a side note, if anyone who is into hex editing/game hacking hangs around here - Let me know if you find the offsets for how the players items are stored in the file. I would love to add it to my program, but it's kind of tricky to find (especially since the items can be stored "loosely" in the inventory and not in any sort of preset grid)

Thanks

Thanks a lot for this great editor. Good work!
I found the address of the save file that content the DURATION of the spell
Address byte Spell
4D9E h 4 Rage of Fallen Heroes
4DA6 h 4 Granite ward of Tempered skin
4DB2 h 4 Fire Haven
4DB6 h 4 Dances Upon the stones of wind
4DBA h 4 Reflections of the Lake
4DBE h 4 Dark Cloak of Shadows
4DC2 h 4 Strength of Titans
4DC6 h 4 Heighten Flesh of Strength and Hale
4DCA h 4 Vampire Mist of the Innate Weakness

The Value in Save Game was about amount in 0.1 second ( example 600 meaning 60 seconds)

Before use the Granite Ward, must EDIT Address 4C15 h ( 2 byte before X-position in Save Game) to 1 to activate and 0 to inactivate. And Before use the Dark Cloak , must EDIT Address 4D6C h to 3 when activate spell and 7 to inactivated it.
Vampire Mist can edit freely and Active suddenly, another spells above were correlated with address 4C13 h by summary value to produced Screen appearance. (3 is normal face, adding 8 for Rage.. spell, adding 16 for Fire Haven, adding 32 for Lake spell, Adding 64 for Heighten Flesh.. spell, adding 128 for Titan spell, adding 256 for Soul Link Spell (IT for Activate SOUL LINK Spell) , Adding 512 for Dance...Spell, Adding 16384 for injured face ( For Example: 51 is for Normal face and active Fire Haven and Reflection spells)

Hey there, thanks for all the values. But to be honest, I gave up on the inventory and spell editing aspect - I got close but the whole thing just kept making me shout "yikes". I just wanted to post and say I have a Wordpress site now where I'll be posting some of the save editors I make. The Anvil of Dawn editor is on there right now. You can find it here:

https://saveeditors.wordpress.com/2016/08/15/anvil-of-dawn/

If I decide to ever re-write it a bit more cleanly and tackle the inventory issue, this is where you will find it. Thanks!

Is it possible you could add the ability to switch levels in the position field? My understanding is that it's a single variable number, so it should be relatively easy. Unfortunately, I don't have the expertise to do it. It would be a nice way around the Underground City bug, though.

Done!

I've just updated the download link on my Save Editors Wordpress site (link in the post above yours). I didn't test it too much so I can't make any promises it will work 100% as intended - but from what I could tell it seems to get the job done.

For those interested in the nitty gritty. Here are the floor level values (Offset: 0x4C54)

00 Grand Palace Halls
01 Grand Palace Lower Chamber
02 Gryphon Keep Main Level
03 Gryphon Keep Dungeon
04 Dark Lantern Tower Levels
05 Dark Lantern Catacombs
06 Underwater Labyrinth (1)
07 Underwater Labyrinth (2)
08 Sunken Galley
09 Underground City
0A The Barrier
0B Temple Of The Moon
0C Temple Tower Upper Levels
0D City Of The Dead
0E City Of Dead Lower Vaults
0F Land Of Roots
10 The Elder Tree Inner Chmabers
11 Sanctuary
12 Gorge Keep
13 The Reed Plain
14 Iron Titan (1)
15 Iron Titan (2)
16 Iron Titan (3)
17 The Quagmire
18 Evil Stronghold Dungeon
19 Evil Stronghold Main Level
1A Evil Stronghold Tower Levels
1B Fire Mountain Main Caverns
1C Fire Mountain Lower Caverns
1D Waterfall Hidden Cave
1E City Mines

OMG, you're amazing. Thank you so much. I haven't even tried it out yet, but I'm grateful just for the attempt. Kudos to you, sir.

You're very welcome. There was an issue with the download links (as you mentioned in the contact form) because Dropbox changed their public sharing policy. The links have been updated accordingly and should work again.
Thanks for your work on this Editor and Stonekeep, looking forward to trying them! :)
If you are interested, the documentation for the UGE module explains how the spell listing works in save files. I managed to use the information to add Rage of Fallen Heroes to my save with a hex editor.
