hi all!

i started with Anvil of Dawn recently and i am looking for maps. Seems like the internet is lacking those. I know that there is a very good walkthrough, but i figured that even this one misses important things.

Luckily, i just found Grombolars posts in another thread posting some nice tagged maps. But it looks like she/he(?) stopped posting those and i think there are some missing. Can anyone post or provide a link to *all* complete maps from this game?

I have not seen much of anything out there apart from the walk-through, but I have not looked very hard. In general I use walk-through guides after I complete an area, to see if I've missed anything important before I move on, but I don't rely on them much so I don't put much energy into trying to find them. Broad strokes are generally enough.

I just finished Dark Lantern and started on the Undersea Maze, so it's early days for me.

This gem of a website has maps for a bucket of cool games, though I was not able to find Anvil of Dawn on there. You shouldn't need a map though, just mark where the spinners are on your in-game map and you should be fine.

This is exactly how i use those maps aswell. Some teleporters seem to teleport you the second time elsewhere, so i fear missing a secret only to be found when using a teleporter twice.

Thanks, ShadowWulfe for your link! Even without Anvil of Dawn maps there, this site is truely a gem.

As for your fear of teleporters, you can always go back. ALWAYS. I read a guide that said you could get stuck if you hadn't assembled everything, but that was totally not true. There is ALWAYS a way back. Just play, and try to be as thorough as possible. Maybe consult a Gamefaqs guide for "things you should do" and make sure you do them in each dungeon.

Unless the game crashes when you try to enter the Underground City...

That probably means that there are too many items being stored in there. I picked up almost everything in the fear that I would run into the item memory bug. I asked on another thread about a possible way to edit the savegames and maybe delete items that were being stored in dungeons, but that's probably above my paygrade work-wise.

There are girls on the webz?! Deary... :P Yeah, sorry about not finishing the maps completely - I *DID* make half-arsed maps throughout the whole game on my 1st gameplay & began another run (COMPLETE maps of some of the earlier levels that time), until I had to reformat my notebook due to a rootkit poopery & AoD wasn't one of the games reinstalled D:

Am truly happy you've found them at least some worth; it was quite a chore to screenshot the map screen, alt-tabbing constantly from the game (windowed mode, more secksi!), copypasting the screenies into several MSpaint windows, cropping/cutting edges etc so they'd be 'perfect' lol. Also keeping the enemies where they are without them moving is another challenge. Do not know yet if I'll get back to it & finish 'em...

*side note* The game doesn't fancy much of having a map full of notes, as it may get glitchy/not opening afterwards, so if you're done with an area, it'd best to remove any unneeded ones, similar to dumping items on the ground.

BTW ShadowWulfe, thanks much for the link, cheers!

Back then I thought of buying Legend of Grimrock just for the map editor, seems handy: LoG mapping tutorial playlist

Now the game's on 50% discount as well... HMMMMMM. :D
I found a Strategy Guide for this game here.
