Hi,

recently my wife uncovered her original Anno 1701. We decided to try playing together so I bought a copy through gog. Trying to play resulted in the original version being unplayable as it requires registration to a server that is no longer available. So... another version being bought through gog.

Now I start the game on both PCs and can actually find the opened game. But clicking on "join" results in a small window saying "Joining game..." and that's it.
It is trying to connect for the last 10 minutes and would continue to do so even if I shutdown the pc it is trying to connect to.

As the game was found I suspect it's not a firewall problem. (Which I deactivated entirely for the second test I did)
Found (on another site) a tipp that we should try compatibility mode with winxp sp3. (as I am writing here... that obviously did not help)

The game might be nice but I have enough games to play... was looking forward to have a game we could both play.
Is there something I could still try? Google did not yet provide anything helpful. (only stupid comments about sharing the gamefolders as network share)

If this deems unsolvable does this count as technical problems allowing for a refund?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

Vorab schonmal Danke!
