It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Also does anyone know why they were patched out originally?

I've been decompiling some of the maps and they didn't load afterwards in the game when I compiled them back after the editing and it was animated textures that were causing the problem. For example if you were to try to edit Rowdy's map it won't load back in the game because of the "Big Jim's" sign which is animated, so you've got to make it static 1 frame texture to make it load in-game. Maybe the devs had some special compiler for their maps that treated animated surfaces differently, who knows huh (it is really strange though since not everything that is animated is breaking the maps, only some special things).
