In the following link it is explained how to run this game under Windows 7.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/999220/discussions/0/4227150602817608623/

The problem is related with the zlibwapi.dll library, that has only be tested on Windows 8 and 10. Using the previous version of this file, solves the problem running the game on Windows 7.
Update from Frictional Games' twitter:

"The Windows 7 issue is now fixed and uploaded to all stores!
All Win7 owner should be able to run Amnesia: Rebirth without any issues now.
If you are not getting the update, always make sure to restart your store app.
Sorry for any inconvenience!"

However, checking for updates for this game on Galaxy doesn't seem to do anything yet. What's going on with that?

EDIT: Got it to update. I set it to automatically update again rather than manual, and it downloaded an update. However, the game still doesn't run for me, same Win7 error as before.

Same for me. Windows 7 - cannot even get the game running.
Why y'all still on Windows 7? It's an outdated 11 year old OS, I mean damn. You should upgrade to Windows 10 especially if you're a gamer. Windows 10 handles games and RAM and many other "behind the scene" things way better.

SentimentalWoosh: Why y'all still on Windows 7?
The question isn't why people are on Win7. The question is, if Frictional wants it to be supported for this game - and they do - then we just want to know when the fix will come through GOG. If they said "We won't support Win7" then that's a different story. According to their twitter the fix should already be here, but we don't seem to have it.

Win10 is free to upgrade to, but I have what I think are very good reasons not to change yet - but anyway, that's off topic! I won't have a chance to play this game for a couple weeks anyway, but hoping the fix that's supposed to be here already comes round soon, because I'm hyped to play it.

EDIT: I tried the fix linked in the first post. Game boots up! Apparently it works well: "savegames work, checkpoints work, performance and asset streaming is fine on my end." Might just have to do it this way instead. I'm just worried about the small chance there's gonna be some library call that this old version of the zlibwapi DLL doesn't have or something 80% of the way into the game and then everything will break...

you are not alone

Downloaded V1.0.4 fresh, manually and it also still does not work. I did preorder it, when there was no word when W7 was still supported on the front page. I give them a week or so to make it work officially on W7.

Good to know, I uninstalled and was gonna try that next. Luckily I wasn't planning to play this for a few weeks anyway. Next step will be to bug them on the twitter post where they said Win7 is fixed. :p

GOG just provided V1.06 patch and files an hour ago or so. I just played a few minutes and so far it works as expected.
Hooray!
