I opened a ticket of Atari's website and explained all the progress we got so far, so I hope they can make a fix on the .exe I mean, they know better and they have access to the original files before compilation. So I hope is not something that will be difficult for them, but I don't know if they will fix it, or if they still give support for AITD.
Hi guys, I began to have problems after the last update of Windows 10, was really slow and unstable, it was even difficult to backup my files. I don't know if you are having the same problems but I decided to use my recovery partition and restore my system to Windows 8.1. I can't understand how can Windows 10 run slow on an i7 processor. So I no longer have the issue, AITD4 is working well with no errors on Windows 8.1.

I will still post here if I get any response from support. I wrote both to Atari and Spiral Games (they were creating the PC and PS2 version). So I will be less active here from now and on, I don't need to keep trying things but I will still be posting if I get any answer from them.
Hi! Very sorry to hear about your win10 issue. Nice that you managed to go back to your previous operational system. I installed all updates of win10 in here and i´m still going :)

Interesting that the game works perfectly on win8.1 and not win10. It was the same for me in here too. My previous SO was win8.1 Pro 64 and AITD4 worked perfectly.

Anyway, i´ll still search for an answer and will post it here if i ever find a solution.

Thanks a lot sorbera and good luck.
Thanks flaviossa! Hope you guys can manage to find a patch. I got an answer from GOG but nothing yet neither from Atari nor Spiral. Is working well on Windows 8.1 I think another option can be to use a virtual machine running windows xp, install it there just to play this game if you really want to play and you don't want to downgrade to the previous Windows version. But I'm sure you already thought about that :).

Here is the answer from GOG if you are interested:

Hello,

[i]Unfortunately your operating system is not supported in this game. We weren't able to make the game work reliably on our test computers running that system. Because of this, this system is not listed among the compatible ones on the product page. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Maybe you have access to a different PC that meets the system requirements and that you could use to play the game?

If not, I can convert this purchase to store credit that you can use towards buying a different game.

Thanks a lot you too and good luck, I'll come back to you if I get something interesting to share. I really wasn't so excited about installing Windows 10 but I did it because I knew I had my recovery partition. I don't like at all that you have to install all updates with no choice, and the fact that Windows 10 is using your bandwith and computer as P2P to make others able to install updates faster and so on. I will maybe wait since all users have 1 year to free-upgrade the system.

We keep in touch :)!

Okay

Got Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare working on VMware Workstation Virtual Machine and it works good

https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_workstation_player/12_0 and an old copy of windows Xp home I have works good now!
That´s sure a workaround, but it´s not the objective in here. I´m trying to run it directly in win10. A VM is too much work to only one game. There must be another way :)

But thanks!

flaviossa: Looking at this tread in steam forum:

We can see that it´s not a win10 related problem. People there running win 7 and win 8 talk about the problem too.
I could not run it on Win 10 but it works just fine on Win 7-64 at any resolution. It's definitely a Win 10 issue in my book.
So, like WH40K Chaos Gate, I boot in Win 7 to play this game. No need to convoluted workaround until, of course, GoG decides to support Win 10 and issues an update.....
Ok, sorry for reviving this thread, but im onto something. As we all know, the spanish version works fine on windows 10. If you overwrite the "movies" and "Dialog" folders, you can get english audio, but you still have the spanish text. I tried to translate with an hexadecimal editor some parts just to test, and it does work. The file to modify is "locale" inside the Provider folder. Im adding a picture just to show you. I did this in a few minutes, im sure if someone knows how to code a proper tool, it will be faster and easier to translate back to english (or any other language) the menu and the files, hence getting win 10 support.

wow, well that is new. The whole reason I have not bought this is because of the win10 issue. hope it pans out.
