Olde72: I think I've earned the right to complain. Nearly every single time I get at least four kills on GOG players in AVP Classic, they leave. Either the servers are that unstable, or they're rage-quitters. And it's no fun to play against people who won't play with you for more than a few minutes. And trust me, this happens all the time.
I know it happens all the time, and you don't even need to get to four kills, either. But by and large, the players are neophytes who are entirely unprepared for the experience. From their point of view, you're a shark who's out to get easy kills. Considering how unwieldy the game's chat and GOG's current infrastructure are, some would simply decide to drop, then see if there's something better later. Again, GOG really isn't a multiplayer community, and cultivating one will take time. You're doing a damn fine job in helping out, though, for which I thank you!

Personally, when I see an inexperienced player, I deal with it by a) not being as good as you; and b) toying with them - mostly works with the alien, but the game makes for a good experience as the "prey" ;)

Yeah, I've done the "toying around with them" for a long time, believe me. I've also handicapped myself: hold the walk button, don't use the charged tail, don't jump, don't crouch, etc. After a while it gets boring because it doesn't test your potential. That's one reason why we brought in tournaments to Steam's AVPC community.

I think your bit about GOG not being a multiplayer community seems true to me, from what I've seen anyway. Players on both GOG and Steam should be aware of the skill differences and different perceptions of playing the game that people on the opposite client have, if the servers ever merge.
