Future patches will probably be handled in the same way as patches are for e.g. The Witcher 2, where the developer will release standalone patchers that you simply download & run to update the game. i.e. the way things were before Steam :) In addition to this GOG will upload new master installers with the latest update already applied.
Patches will be handled by GOG downloader..

Quote from GOG downloader page

"The downloader will notify you about new patches, forum replies, and PMs—right on your taskbar!"
have anybody tried to add gog's game version to steam?
I don't think you can register the game on steam because there's no keycode. And I don't think there will be one. When I bought Legend of Grimrock on http://www.grimrock.net/buy/ I had the choice between a stand-alone Downloader inluding a Steam Key, Gog.com and Steam-only. According to this Gog won't give us something for Steam.
I didn't know that there is no key code at all for this game. I bought something on gamersgate and there was no any sort of DRM or client such as steam but still the game required key code.

How can I redeem GOG codes? does this involve purchasing a scratch card?

To redeem a GOG code, simply click the REDEEM CODE link at the bottom of every page.

As for how to acquire a GOG code; the only legal way (aside from a fluke Humble Bundle title last year), is directly from GOG or, in the case of a gift, a current GOG member. These codes are digital only, so there are no scratch cards or other types of physical GOG codes. If you somehow acquired a GOG code from a non-GOG source, please be advised that codes like that are not valid and they may not be able to be redeemed.

If you have any further questions related to GOG codes or any other facet of GOG's business, you might want to check out the Website FAQ.

Happy gaming!

I feel like this post should just be copied onto every single place on this site. The number of times I see people asking about Steam keys, GOG codes from elsewhere etc, is overwhelming.

Heh. Thanks!

I hope that it at least helped the people posting in this thread clear up their confusion.
