Greetings everyone. I recently purchased these 2 games because I wanted to go through them again (childhood favorites) but sadly, they don't run well. I launch the games and everything begins fine - the videos play and the music runs without issue. When I start a game though and start trying to move across the map the unit movement is very choppy. When I played the games previously the movement was very smooth. Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution to it? This problem occurs in both games by the way. In case it helps, I'm running Windows 10 and my GPU is a GeForce 1080. Some troubleshooting that I've already tried includes messing with the settings by checking/unchecking the Direct 3D box and running the games in compatibility mode.

If anyone has any solutions I would be most grateful - I would love to be able to pay these games again.

I don't know what your problem might be, but I will suggest contacting Support.
To be honest, I haven't been able to get AoW:SM to play on either of my Win10 machines properly. One has integrated graphics and I can sometimes get it to load and other times not at all. And when it does load, it often is in the freaky non-English font. The other computer has a five year old ATI card which should be more than enough GPU for this game and it randomly crashes and always crashes if I try to minimize to the desktop.

Luckily, I have way too many computers and just play it on my Win7 gaming machine.
I play aow2 on a Windows 10 just fine. So, I'm sure there's some simple thing you could do to play it on Windows 10, but I don't recall doing anything revolutionary, or ever having that issue in the first place.
In my case quitting the game, rebooting the system and running the game again always helped for Age of Wonders 2. It's one of those games that don't like it if you've gone too long without a full system reboot.
I'm not sure if the same solution will work for Shadow Magic.

EDIT:
No, it doesn't work for Shadow Magic. But turning off Direct3D in the config program does, at least for me. The game looks uglier, but not too bad and runs real smooth.

Turn off directx3d and reboot pc.
This works for me.
Use dxwrapper or dgVoodoo2.
