I dl'd today and gave this game a shot.. seemed ok but text is too small but that can be fixed.. Problem is this game will run your graphics card extremely hot. I did some digging online and there are a lot of complaints about this. This game IMHO is not worth playing when you can play the most demanding games out there running the same temps..

No, it has nothing to do with my CPU or my GPU.. Google some reviews...

mine runs 80+ Gpu... too high for my liking CPU cores run 45c which is great

Skyrim on Ultra and every other game I own the GPU never gets above 65-67 so something is wrong here.

Just a warning so you don't burn up your vid cards

I sent a message to support about it and have been working it out with them.

I THINK it's specific to ATI cards, which I would assume you have?

This is the crux of what they sent me:
1. Open Catalyst Software

2. Go to the Gaming tab, and select 3D application settings

3. In the Systems Settings, toggle "Anti-Aliasing Mode" into "Use Application Settings" and "Anti-Aliasing Samples" into "Use Application Settings""

I haven't had the chance to try it out yet, but let me know how it goes. In my case, I had already had that set to use Application, so I changed everything to "Use Application Settings", just haven't tried it out.

Ok sounds good and I'll try it out.. I'll have to install it again though.. And yeah I got a ATI card.. Will be a few days but I will get back with the results
Ok I finally got it back up and tried this.. Did not do anything and I don't like heating up my card that much.. Maybe I can get a refund because this is useless now..

If it helps, I had to set all of my settings really low in order to get it to work without burning up the card too much. And I alt-tabbed every so often to make sure that everything was going fine.
Yeah, it's just poor programming.. I thought I was the only one that keeps track of this stuff lol.. Glad to see I'm not alone.. I still will not play the game until I either have a new Graphics Card on hand or am ready to build a new rig.. which will be sometime this year anyways..

Also I found another that's horid on the GPU and is GTA4.. got it on sale from steam and is just as bad.. I think that one is just a bad porting job.. Funny how my cores don't go above 42C and the GPU gets over 85C.

After that one I did clean and reapply arctic silver but it didn't even need it but did it anyways just to see.. My card is kinda outdated (radeon hd 5750) and top temp should only be 84C. Im curious if Aarklash runs newer cards with more fans that hot as well..
Well I've got an Nvidia GPU and started paying attention to the temperature when playing this game. Leapt up into the 80s, 10 degrees hotter than my most demanding game. Thanks for letting me know before I melted down my PC but what a pity, this game looked like fun.

Your Welcome...Thats a shame, so now we know that they can't just blame ATI.. I'd have to look again who the developer is but they are now backlisted in my book. Have a good one..
Does the game support v-sync? I have a feeling that the game does not support v-sync or does not do it correctly. So what might be happening is that the game is running at very high frame-rates and causing your gpu to run very hot. Do any of you have a program like fraps or afterburner so that you can see the frame rate during the game? I have had this happen once or twice where a game doesn't support a frame limit or v-sync and it causes the gpu to heat up.

As a side note, if any game is able to heat up your gpu to dangerous levels, you may want to improve your cooling. I personally recommend some type of gpu utility like furmark. They are known as power-virus programs that heat up the gpu to their max level. This lets you check the cooling of your gpu and case. I would also recommend setting a fan-curve for your gpu so that no matter what happens your fan will keep up with the temperature, while staying nice and quiet when your machine is not working very hard. MSI afterburner is a very popular program for fan monitor/adjusting.

Indeed, highly recommended! You can also use its OSD feature that will show you framerate, memory usage, fan percantage, temperatures etc.. in-game with colour preference so it won't bother during gameplay.

It also happens to support a framerate limiter which I was going to suggest to counter this problem. If you limit the frame rates you contain how much your GPU will work, that could help facilitate a safer temperature.
How 'bout the developer just makes a patch?
Tried the demo from Steam. Through the first fight and then the start of the second one I see my GPU temp zoomed up and then leveled off at 149f. The CPU was in the high 140s.

This was at 1920x1200 with an HD 6670 graphics card. Win 7, 6 gig ram.

Runs hotter than most games but it doesn't look like anything to worry about on my system.

Here's the thing.. If it were a really good game that I was really interested in then I would try to do all that and tweek settings so forth.. but it isn't as far as I know

I do have fraps but I unistalled/ deleted the game almost instantly back in december and realistically will not re-download. Otherwise I would try fraps and check the framerates

I think the point here is this game and others that do this should be patched like mishiefmaker suggested or they just need to hire better programmers and/or fix this shit before they release.. There's a lot of people out there that don't know any better to check these things and harm their computers.

As far as fans and cooling goes I have a gaming rig with plenty of airflow and all that.. I do my heatsinks and paste more often than I should.

People I assume buy games to escape and have fun.. not to go through countless hours trying to fix the Devs mistakes.
I played this for twelve hours yesterday (having bought it in the sale) and checked the Catalyst panel occasionally to see what the GPU stats looked like. (I do NOT use it to overclock at all, so that isn't a factor.) This is with a 6770 and vsync enabled in both cases.

It was running at 100% utilization with the temperature sitting at 60-61 C and the fan sitting at 80% speed. Skyrim on settings somewhat short of Ultra generally sits at around 90-95% utilization and anywhere from 50-55 C and varying between about 60-70% fan speed.

That's noticeably higher but not necessarily a card-killer. Some of the difference is probably down to the fact that Skyrim has a lot more CPU/disk bottlenecking, which tends to reduce GPU utilization.

On the other hand, it does suggest that some part of the rendering process is going full throttle even when it doesn't need to. I did note that the game runs in a full-window rather than full screen by default, although I don't know whether that would make a difference.

Yeah, no a killer but heater upper... Glad your able to get those temps. They sound great.

Just curious, I was going to a small video card upgrade for my desktop (3 years old) before I flat out build a new rig sometime this summer.. Does your 6770 ever give you any trouble or heat up too much on certain games? I usually don't play the farcrys and mass effect stuff.. Just RPG's mostly.. but I do know it's time at least for a small upgrade, I currently have the HD 5750 with 1 GIG.. Thanks

edit.. going with 7000 series, not much price difference
