"I know" said a developer, "let's make using the trackpad just about impossible."

And so they did.

"But" said another "there are some Mac user who have Wacom tablets too. Don't let it work with those either!"

And that too was coded.

Care to elaborate? What makes using the trackpad near impossible?
In particular, what's so specific about the MacBook Pro trackpads and this game? I have played the Windows version a little on a Toshiba laptop, and it's quite usable, even if little clunkier than I'd like.

Im having problems with both the trackpad and mouse. Its almost unplayable unless you hit some keys to make the token options move.

It is impossible to select the right-sided option if there is one. So if Open is on the left and Examine is on the right I cannot select Examine. I can click but then moving my finger(s) on the trackpad does not reliably choose the option I want if at all. So I'm fighting the game interface and I got fed up of that before I'd fully explored the first building.

It sounds to me like the problem is the Mac trackpad... Is it because the 'mouse buttons' are underneath the touch pad instead of by them like they are on every other laptop?

no it isnt, its problem too with external mouse, I have tried both.

this has to be the most annoying bug ever, its like suffering instead of playing. cant believe they published it with so many bugs (I am having difficulties to save the game as well).
oh, also I am not on laptop, I have a desktop (Mac Pro) so it seems the problem is not isolated to one machine.
Have you all written to support? Sounds like something GOG needs to get Daedalic to fix.

The game is sold as being Mac-compatible. It is not playable on a Mac.

How - in great detail - did the developers test it on a Mac? I assume they found it worked perfectly - so how did they do it?

I was wondering if it was down to physical differences, but I've already had it pointed out to me that it doesn't behave correctly even with a mouse.

I'm no apologist, it sounds like Daedalic screwed this release right up. There's another thread saying that the English version is partially in Russian, especially strange considering the original language is German, not Russian.

I would not write if it was just me. The reply would be that it affected no-one else, it's my machine, there is no bug etc. And if I was the only one that would be a very reasonable reply.

Now I know I am not I will write and I will indicate this thread. But it's still only a couple of us.

Hopefully a mac user inside GOG will try to play this game and realise just how broken it is.

The important thing is that it's not an isolated incident, so yeah writing and linking to this thread is a good idea.
*does the "try windowed mode" dance as no-one seems to have read his solution in the other thread*

It makes the game a little more tricky to play but in a different way, especially if you zoom in to get a 'faux-fullscreen', but hey. At least you can control the action wheel now.

I've just boarded the Atlas (not a spoiler, you hear about it right at the beginning), and haven't had a problem since I switched.
Works the same with both trackpad and the external mouse on my macbook pro too. Worked just fine in the first few chapters, but in the fourth chapter it started happening every time i click on something. Not so serious it can't be played, but it is really annoying...

Pressing the keys once the menu is opened and blocked did nothing for me, but I noticed that if i move the mouse immediately after the menu circle expands it almost always works. This is not a good solution because you still have to spend a lot of time to open the menu to see the options, hide it by clicking the right button, and then open it again and immediately move the mouse to the option you want to select... but better then nothing i guess.
For the record, I had this problem as well. It was fixed when I started playing the game in windowed mode. Of course, the game itself still sucked badly.
